Dragonborn Bloodline Feats

The dragonborn of my homebrew gain miscellaneous powers and features based on their descent. Note that not all dragonborn receive these feats: in fact, few except those from New Arkhosia do.

Apepi
Prerequisites: Dragonborn, level 1 only
Effect: You are descended from the serpent Apep. You receive a +2 to damage inflicted to good immortals, such as angels, or good fey, such as eladrins.

Cecropian
Prerequisites: Dragonborn, level 1 only
Effect: You are descended from the semi-divine Cecrops, the first emperor of Arkhosia. Add Diplomacy to your list of class skills. In addition, you gain a +2 racial bonus to all Diplomacy skill checks. Finally when you spend an action point to gain an extra standard action, you can immediately re-roll a failed Diplomacy skill check made in the same round.

Ketosian
Prerequisites: Dragonborn, level 1 only
Effect: You are descended from the Ketos, the protector of the fisher-folk of Samarkanda. Add Nature to your list of class skills. In addition, you gain a +2 racial bonus to all Nature skill checks. Finally when you spend an action point to gain an extra standard action, you can immediately re-roll a failed Nature skill check made in the same round.

Mushrushu
Prerequisites: Dragonborn, level 1 only
Effect: You are descended from the semi-divine Mushrushu, one of the draconic companions of the law-goddess Gwyneth. Your hatred of chaos causes you to receive a +2 to damage inflicted to creatures with the aberrant subtype, or other creatures tainted by chaos, such as the fomorians or their armies.

Pythian
Prerequisites: Dragonborn, level 1 only
Effect: You are descended from the semi-divine Cumæ, advisor to Cecrops. Add Religion to your list of class skills. In addition, you gain a +2 racial bonus to all Religion skill checks. Finally when you spend an action point to gain an extra standard action, you can immediately re-roll a failed Religion skill check made in the same round.

First, I really like this concept.

But, these feats right here:

Cecropian
Prerequisites: Dragonborn, level 1 only
Effect: You are descended from the semi-divine Cecrops, the first emperor of Arkhosia. Add Diplomacy to your list of class skills. If you already receive this class skill, gain a +2 to it instead.

Ketosian
Prerequisites: Dragonborn, level 1 only
Effect: You are descended from the Ketos, the protector of the fisher-folk of Samarkanda. Add Nature to your list of class skills. If you already receive this class skill, gain a +2 to it instead.

Pythian

Effect: You are descended from the semi-divine Cumæ, advisor to Cecrops. Add Religion to your list of class skills. If you already receive this class skill, gain a +2 to it instead.

These are too weak. It would be more profitable to just take Skill Training or Skill Focus in the relevant skill.

I would suggest that you make the +2 bonus always apply (whether they are trained in it or not) and that you include some other bonus, such as: the ability to always Take 10; the ability to spend an Action Point to reroll the check with a +5 bonus; the ability to reroll the check at-will (that's really strong, so maybe don't have a +2 bonus with that); or something like that.

Agreed. I think overall the best option would be:

Add [Skill Name] to your list of class skills. In addition, you gain a +2 racial bonus to all [Skill Name] skill checks. Finally when you spend an action point to gain an extra standard action, you can immediately re-roll a failed [Skill Name] skill check made in the same round.

Sounds good to me. I'll edit accordingly.

The idea behind these is: dragonborn always struck me, culturally, as sort of Japanese with their focus on honor and all. I figured, take the analogy one step further and make them focus on ancestry just as much.

I like the BGs. I think in the Ecology of the Dragonborn it was said that one's clan is more important than one's own family and that upholding that honour is extremely important. I hadn't thought about the comparison before, but I think you're right.
