Dragonchess Clerics and Paladins

In the game Dragonchess (as featured in Dragon #100), can the Cleric and/or Paladin capture pieces on their trans-board moves, or must their trans-board moves be made into unoccupied squares? By trans-board move, I mean, for example, the move up from the middle board to the upper board.

Both the Cleric and the Paladin can capture on their transboard moves.
