Dragonlance Novel Recommendations

Well, it's not a recent one, but IMHO The Legend of Huma is easily the best non-Weis & Hickman Dragonlance novel. I'm sure you can figure out what it's about.

I agree, this book is downright awesome. The writing is in such a way not revealing every character detail and plight, but still gets across emotions in a way Weis & Hickman can't. It's my favorite of all the Dragonlance series, and I have a few.

I never was a Dragonlance fan. I tried to read the first set of novels and just couldn't get into them. However, about a year/year and a half ago, I stumbled across the Icewall trilogy.

I really enjoyed the trio of novels that made up this series. I'd highly recommend them to anyone even with the somewhat sad, emotion wise, ending.

Additionally, the Dragonlance.com site is where I first heard of these novels. Is that site not wonderful? The attention to detail and comprehensive information is nice to see and I'm sure appreciated by Dragonlance fans.

I only got about halfway through the first trilogy because I didn't really like it very much. I think it was the style of their writing that bothered me. Does it get better after the first few chapters of the second book? I didn't like the first book, but decided to give the second one a try since everyone else seems to love the series. The second one appeared to be more of the same and didn't really pique my interest much.

I'd say that if you haven't liked what you've read so far, you're probably not going to change your mind by reading more.

Many people would also say, though, that Weis & Hickman matured as writers and only got better. This is easy to see by reading the Legends trilogy, which is miles ahead of Chronicles in terms of plot and character development and the excellent pacing. Of course, it also helped that they weren't tied to the plot of a series of modules.
