Dragonlance - Weis and.... Hickman?

Razuur

First Post
Hello all,

Tracy and Laura Hickman created Dragonlance. Tracy and Margaret wrote the first two series ( Chronicles and Legends )

Over the years, bot were kind of pushed out of Dragonlance and Dragonlance products.

Now, D20 arrives, and Soveriegn Press gains access to the D20 version of Dragonlance. Margeret is working on products, as is a host of newer contributors (and a fine job they are doing!).

So my question is... Where is Tracy? Is he just uninterested in Dragonlance anymore? Is he just more focused on his writing career?

Seems a bit odd to me that he isn't involved.

Anyone else know or is curious.

Before Soverign Press got the license, the "d20 support" of the Dragonlance setting was a fan group called the "Whitestone council." (The guys who did dl3e.com and dragonlance.com were at the heart of this group.) Tracy Hickman was on the council, and was one of the main reasons why these guys (and not, oh, the folk who do The Kencyclopedia) got the "offical hat" from Wizards of the Coast.

I don't know why Tracy isn't doing more, aside from the poor return RPGs have when you're a "name" author, but I doubt that it's him being pushed out.

(On a side note: In the interest of rambling / full disclosure, I was one of the people who said "sure, I'll help" for the Whitestone Council. It was supposed to be ran as a fan-based group, and instead it was ran as a two-guys-having-a-ball-with-dragonlance group. The whole process to have fan input wasn't just not followed, but it was allowed to go through the motions and then blatantly discarded--before Soverign Stone ever got the contract.)

Tracy and Laura Hickman are busy working on a fantastic new setting called The Bronze Canticles. The first novel in the series, Mystic Warrior, is out now. I highly recommend it.

Tracy and Jamie Chambers are updating Tracy's old Lyceum adventure for the current rules system, which you will be able to see for the first time in print in the upcoming War of the Lance.
