First Post
Hey all, finally have my page up for my upcoming Music adventure CD. I have 2 sample MP3s available for download, that will give you a taste of what to expect. I have a couple of arrangements going for distribution and looking to finish up the album by end of March.

So anyway, give them a listen!

Hmm, well, I just gave the two tracks a listen (thankfully no one else was in the school computer lab to complain that I was disturbing them). I don't understand the technical nature of composing music, so my impressions here are given more in terms of feeling and such. Hope that's something you find helpful.

"Dragon's Gate" is quite good, but the music covers too wide a scope in the single track. Most DMs tend to play background music as "mood music" to get the better emotional reactions from their players. For ease and simplicity, each single track should have music that evokes a different mood. The music in Dragon's Gate though goes all over the emotional scale. The music seems eerie, then just mysterious, then full of grandeur, then peaceful...its like being on an emotional rollercoaster. It's not that thats necessarily bad, just that its not going for the single-feel-in-a-single-track that DMs want. Also, it had some sound effects in there "horse hooves clopping". Don't mix sound effects with mood music. DMs who want sound effects do those separately. All that does here is get in the way of the mood the music is painting.

"Tunnel of Souls" has much more sense of self. While it starts out a bit eerie, it quickly turns to just being mysterious with a slight sense of awe and wonder. In essence, the souls that the tracks title is talking about aren't overt or malicious, but instead quiet and hidden, not with malice in mind, but just because they're hard to reach. The track begins and ends softly, helping to establish a quiet, slightly expectant and reverant mood. Thumbs way up on this one.

I look forward to hearing more of your work. Keep up the nice job!

Your absolutley right! Thank you for giving them a listen, perhaps it was a bit of a mistake on my part, but "Dragon's Gate" is actually a 15 minute song, a bit to big for the net even in MP3 format. Tunnel of souls is the same way, they are clips. What I did uniquely to these samples; was to take the intro and the end pieces of the music and splice them together, for a shorter "full range" example of the music. Kind of like flipping through a magazine your going to buy before you purchase it. Perhaps I should explain that these are merged clips on the site, thanks for pointing that out.

As far as the sound effects, I have had a few different reactions to it, some like it, some think its to loud or soft, some didn't even really notice. I guess its all subjective. But I will quiet the hooves down a bit ;)

Once again, I appreciate your critque.
