Dragonstar -- Any good?

I LOVE it. I wanted to run it this weekend but no one in our group is free. I'm hoping to play the rpga Living dragonstar soon.

I wish there was a bit more setting as well but the Galaxy Guide should flesh it out. But the question is can I wait another month for it :)

The Player's Guide is very well done, a nice thorough take on high-tech DnD. If you want much in the way of setting material, you will have to wait like the rest of us.

Fair warning though: albeit it is theoretically D&D in space, I would warn you not to foolishly expect the tone of your campaign won't shift under the weight of such technology. DS weapons can be VERY deadly.

And kobolds with rifles with damage 4d6 can be a lot more than your typical 1st level party can manage... BTW, a first level party with laser rifles is both very deadly and very easy to kill in the Dragonstar universe, so beware :)

and they say the gattling gun was suppossed to help end violencen and warfare because it was such a terrible [as in deadly and cruel] weapon ... oops :)

I looked at their on-line samples and thru the players guide ... I like the setting and rules.

I love it - I gave it a 5/5 (on the 10 scale I once used at my site it would have gotten a 9/10) in my review on this site. Go check it out for ourself - there are a fair bit of reviews of the Starfarer's Handbook at Enworld....

Dragonstar dragons

For reasons that will be obvious to folks to known me on the boards, I love the idea of the Dragon Empire. :D

I plan to have a nice NPC. A Red dragon with lots of spellware including intergal weapons and lots of other goodies. :-)

I am going to have to come back and ask lots of advice on how to run it when/if my party finds her. :-)

1) Have it use a change self spell to look like a white dragon, so they'll try and use lasers on it.

2) Make sure it has a protection from elements: electricity up.

Yes, Dragonstar is excellent, out of the 4 sessions I have run I have lost 4 PC's (out of 7 players). One of my NPC's have killed 1 player. The others were all PC killing PC, or suicides. I love DMing DS!
