[Dragonstar] Conscript Training

Has anyone worked up rules for the training of PC's once they are conscripted into the Imperial Legions? Specifically if they the PC's are from a "classic" D&D setting that has been invaded by the Empire. I'm thinking of doing this in a future campaign. Forcing the PC's into the Legion and seeing what they do. I'm concerned about how to handle their acquiring the tech based skills, how much experience would an Imperial boot camp generate? What would the best role for ex-adventurers be in a military unit? What type of skills would they pick up? How much of their own equipment would the be allowed to keep? These sort of things.

I imagine any magical equipment would be confiscated while the rest would be left behind..."You won't need that archaic junk where you're goin'". After a month of training they could get the Technical Prof. feat for free and be given one appropriate weapon and/or armor for their PC class. And the obvious choice after conscription would be...grunt! Such green recruits wouldn't be much good or trustworthy until the superiors see how they perform under pressure in the field. As for XP in training, assuming roleplaying isn't done for the whole time, try assigning 1/5 the XP needed to reach the PC's next level. Not too big, not too small.

I don't think the Legions would confiscate simple magical items like cloaks, potions etc. - the PCs might not be allowed to wear items that infer with the uniform regulations - but even the Imperial Legions have leaves once in a while and it's logical to assume that a certain amount of personal items are permitted.

As for the Tech. Prof. - characters from non-hitech civilisations acquire it automatically after having gained a full level while living inside the Dragon Empire (or equivalent). So you can either roleplay or the training and make sure the PCs gain a level because of it or simply let time pass - out of play - and grant the PCs one extra level (and the Tech Prof) at the start of the next session.
