Dragoon

Indeed, KD. Not tryin' to offend, just sayin' what popped into my head. I played FFI, II, and VII, but none of the others. That's why I say the class as Kain.

It's okay. Kain was cool!! :)

Hey Hey

This coming from an rpg junkie (16 years table top and console since FF1), I can say that I've played all the FF's with the exception of FF9. Just wanted to add that since it wasn't in my last post.

Oh yeah, the 16 years isn't much unless you know that I'm 21.

What is the "dragoon jump" listed at level 7?

I agree that leap of the clouds is crucial for these folks.

I would consider having the dragoon end his movement in the target's square on a jump strike. At higher levels (something to fill in a 'blank' level, you might even make this act like a bull rush as the dragoon lands on his oponent.

Not bad. A little monomanaical (could easily be a prestige class rather than a core class), but quite playable. A little polish on the grammar (make the Jump check DC explict- "The dragoon must make a Jump Check (DC equal to the number of feet he must travel to enter the opponent's square) to use this ability.") and this could be very nice :).

Still looks good looks like some of the this a sugested took hold. Some of the ideas these guys gave are also good (The post befor this is the best example).

I'd say this is a pretty stock Ryuukishi class -- yes, I refuse to call them Dragoons. Dragoons were British cavalry elite. The class from Final Fantasies III, IV, V, and IX was a Ryuukishi, a "Dragon Knight" in English. When they brought FFIV over here, not only did they make the mistake of calling it FF2, they also couldn't fit "Dragon Knight" into the character slot where the class names were, so they shortened it to "Dragoon."

*Point of history. Actually, there was a dragon knight in the real FFII as well, a chap by the name of Richard, but back then there weren't any special jump attacks, or classes for that matter, so it doesn't really count. Likewise, Edgar and Mog from FFVI could equip lances and an item called "Dragon Boots" to gain the jump attack; and Cid Highwind, from FFVII, used lances as his weapon and jump attacks for all his limit breaks. Only FFI and FFVIII really lacked dragoons (I think Kimiari in FFX even uses a jump attack as one of his Overdrives, but I can't remember).
