Dread Necro Familiar question

Owkay, Although it had a slow build up, the dread necro is finally getting fun to play. Watching a group of enemies flee in terror while your skeleton archers pelt them in the back is fun.

I've been looking at my next level and did some research for the evil familiar ability. I'm playing a lawful neutral character (DM didn't allow evil characters for this campaign and so far I've been able to compensate employing undead by doing 'good' deeds), which limits me to two choices: The imp, lawful evil, which actually looks like a pretty good choice and the Ghostly Visage symbiont which is set as 'Usually Chaotic evil', but isn't restricted too it. I'll probably have to negotiate with my DM on this, but so far I'm keeping it open as an option.

There's one question I have and the answer will probably determine which of the two I'll eventually take. Firstly, can the Ghostly Visage, being incorporeal, deliver touch attacks? If the answer is yes, is this actually useful? I mean, can the Ghostly Visage temporarily leave the host's body to deliver the touch attack, and how long would it last outside of the host? Fiend Folio seems somewhat unclear about this.

i wouldn't worry about having it deliver touch attacks. you can do that yourself after it paralyzes someone with its gaze. also, immunity to mind-affecting abilities while its bonded, and the ability for it to mask your face (free disguise kit anyone?) make this one a winner.

in all honesty though, your minions should be smashing the competition. i realize you've got a lot of neat touch attacks, but you'll probably want to ensure you stay the hell out of melee, and let your ghostly visage paralyze foes, while your skellie minions ever so slowly shred them for you.
