Dropping H2 connections into H1

The one thing that didn't make sense to me in the expanded encounters PDF from Dungeon Magazine for Keep on the Shadowfell is that I don't see why Kalarel would be selling slaves to the slavers, since Kalarel many humans to sacrifice to create all that blood for his ritual to open the Rift, and to create his undead servants. And there aren't too many humans in these parts since Winterhaven seems pretty underpopulated. To me it makes more sense to have Kalarel be purchasing slaves from the Boodreavers for use in the ritual.

Actually, that's part of the story surrounding the Bloodreavers in "Keep on the Shadowfell".

The encounter "The Water Cave" includes a backstory that specifically mentions that Kalarel isn't selling slaves to the Bloodreavers. In fact, the Bloodreavers approached Kalarel in the past with the offer of buying people he captures, and he had the messengers killed for wasting his time.

Kalarel's henchmen, however, were intrigued by the offer and have secretly been dealing with the Bloodreavers behind Kalarel's back.

That makes more sense. Some of the henchmen sold some prisoners to the Bloodreavers. Looking back at the side treck, it does specify the slavers bought these prisoners from the kobolds, not from Kalarel himself.

Good points on the bloodreavers... seems like I'll have to start playing that up a little bit once we get there. I'll definitely add that additional encounter to H1... gotta figure out where, but we'll get it.

Can't wait to see the monster list from D'Karr!

I should know this, but what the heck is a
Norker
?

Also, thanks a ton, D'karr. :)

You're welcome. Answer below.

Originally Norkers were a certain type of hobgoblin. I didn't get much of a chance to look at the new entry for them, it was quite late when my plane got in, but I imagine that due to the adventure background norkers are still a certain type of goblinoid.
