D&D 3E/3.5 Drow of the Underdark 3.5

First Post
In the back there is a table for racial levels for playing a Drow, instead of just a +2LA. However, I did not see anything in the book for HD, class skills or skill points per level. Was there an errata somewhere that supplies this information or is it just assumed that Drow built this way use the HD and skills for Humanoids from the Monster Manual?

The table allows for advancement up to level 20, so there should be some mention of skills and HD (it does mention feats), or did I overlook something?

Any help here would be appreciated.

That's because drow don't have racial HD. The only hit dice you gain for such an advancement come from your class levels, and you use the HP, skill points, and so forth from those classes accordingly.

I guess what was mixing me up was that the class and racial level thing and I'm just trying to understand this a little better.

So, if I had 3 racial levels of drow, I would have at the same time 2 levels in whatever class I chose? This section of the book seems very non-specific and I just want to make sure I've got it right. So, if I were choosing Bard for my class and I was a 3rd level Drow (3 racial levels of Drow), I would also be a 2nd level Bard; right?

Correct.

Essentially, that advancement is a method of spreading your nasty +2 level adjustment bonuses over the course of your first few levels. If you follow that advancement, racial level (ECL) 3 gives you two class levels as well as all drow racial traits except for spell resistance. At ECL 3, you gain your racial SR, but no class levels - you become a full-fledged drow. After that, you advance as normal for a character with a +2 level adjustment, gaining a class level each time you level up.

No you do not also get class levels when using the racial level option.

These are instead of class levels as you advance to account fo the LA of the race.

If you start at a higher level then you can skill this option - it is inclueded (and also on the savage progressions threads at the WotC site (do a search for it it is an archived topic).

Basically there should a "base drow" benefit that requires no character levels. You start with this then take a class level (for the HD and class benefits).

You then use up character levels to take the "racial levels" of drow - and do not gain any HD as you go up.
