Drow War question

For those of you familiar with the drow war campaign by Mongoose, I know that they are broken up into 3 books (levels 1-10, 11-20, & 20-30). Can you end the campaign at the end of book one say. Or is it kinda like the Age of Worms and you pretty much have to go the whole way?

i've only read drow war: part 1. It ends kinda abruptly, but satisfying enough i guess and suitably epic. Actually i think the ending could be expanded alot if the dm is willing to do the work.

There isn't really a need to continue the campaign after lvl.10, but there are ofcourse some unanswered questions and campaign gimmicks that aren't used as much as they could be in a longer campaign.

the campaign is actually one of the best ive ever seen, even though it suffers from a few (well alot i guess) editing errors (mostly involving maps). It requires more work from the dm than fx the shackled city AP (the only dungeon AP ive read). Also Drow war doesn't have the same extensive online support that scap has.

But still, i would very much prefer to gm drow war (part 1) over SCAP.

The first book is probably the best stand alone, as it ends in a climactic battle against a foe that appears suddenly (though subtly) in episode 1. Plus it starts characters at first level, and that seems like a natural entry into a campaign.

The second book escalates the conflict, but it assumes that the players are already established heroes with a record of fighting Drow. If players are willing to accept this (and start at 11th level), then Book 2 should be no problem as a stand alone. More so than the first book, it features exotic environments (desert, seagoing, arctic, extraplanar) and earth-spanning action. It too features enemies that appear in the first episode to be challenged in the last.

The third book is largely a plane-hopping adventure that does not require completion of the first two. However, some old NPCs make appearances, and again players are assumed to have earned a reputation in the Drow Wars, so players without the experience of the first two books may be confused in places. Haven't played it yet, but it looks like great fun.

We're only halfway through the first book, but we're having a blast.

I'm about halfway through running book two now. I already took my group through book one. I'm pretty sure book one would stand alone just fine. It's not like the PCs are clued in enough about the greater scheme of things that the resolution to book one doesn't feel like a fairly final resolution.
