Drow

I admit it...

I am on big time sucker for Drows...

Anway, what I am wondering is what kind of sourcebooks are the most useful? So far I've only got the Forgotten Realms campaign setting and Monte's adventure. Anybody care to comment of City of Spider Queen, Plot & Poison and maybe other books that are out there?

My budget will bless you all.:D

I can only comment on COtSQ,excellent just excellent in my opinion.Of course I am a self admitted drow lover myself.
If you go to seankreynolds.com there are some cool drow he has listed in the characters section.

Oh sorry CoTSQ has a lot of good info in it...a lot more detailed than the FRCS in terms of underdark geography,if you like drow than but this book you will not be dissapointed.

Plot and Posion is the best guidebook for someone looking to make a Drow as ahigh level character....but for just role-playing....CotSQ is he better.

Forrester, I liked your review and found The Complete Book of Elves in 2E to be unbalanced. (Part of the problem with 2E is that many supplements seemed designed to top previous releases.)

Your review reminds me of a simple rule I have for judging supplements: Costs must equal benefits. (Which those bionic adamantine limbs don't. From reading your review, I must presume that the writers were ingesting Underdark mushrooms while watching reruns of the Six Million Dollar Man.:D )

Heck with a sourcebook, if you like drow, Dragon 298 is worth its weight in gold (which is probably why its sold out as a back issue)!

Green Ronin's Plot and Poison is the most complete and exhaustive Drow Sourcebook you could imagine, going in-depth of where Drow might come from (with alternate versions), and tons of new prestige classes, creatures, and equipment to create a complete Drow society for your campaign.

Hmmm... I didn't think the drow issue of Dragon really had all that much to offer.

I think we all know that the true question about drow is how do you pronounce it; like cow or crow? :)

Plot & Poison is probably the best value out there for drow related material. City of the Spider Queen is good and will certainly give your players a run for their money. Complete Guide to Drow has its good points and bad points. I'd recommend checking it out thoroughly before buying the print version or else save a little and get the pdf from RPGNow.com. The only other drow book I am aware of is the Bastion Press pdf adventure "Where Dark Elves Rule" but there is nothing really new concerning the drow themselves in it. It is an adventure of attrition that will wear your players down if run right. ;)

Plot & Poison is decent - not quite up to the level of Hammer & Helm, but I did find quite a few useful ideas in there that will make it into Queen of Lies when I run it.
