Druid of the Land - Circle Magic

I am considering making a Druid as a backup character. After reading the Circle Spells class feature provided by Circle of the Land archetype, and confirming that this is the only class feature in this archetype that requires a choice of terrain, an idea fully formed in my head. What if instead of choosing a "favored" terrain, you simply gained access to the list of whichever terrain you happened to be on.

While I know this would require some extra bookkeeping, do you think this would be too strong of a boon?

It's a neat idea! I don't think it would be too strong, if anything it's probably weaker than choosing a terrain since you're essentially put at the mercy of the DM in terms of what spells you have access to. If I were to implement it, I'd probably say that your active terrain only changes when you finish a long rest to limit the amount of bookkeeping (and avoid weird questions about where exactly the border between certain terrains is/what happens if you walk across that border).
There also might be situations where none of the available terrains are really applicable to: what terrain would be active when you're say, on the Elemental Plane of Fire?

I actually do this already, but the Druid has to empty their spell slots and spend at least a full day in that terrain (so, no overnighting at the inn), and the spells only come after a Long Rest.

No, it would be fine, because the Druid cannot choose and you don't know for sure that the spells from the current terrain are those you need prepared today (many of those spells are on the list because of an affinity to the terrain, not because they are more useful while in that terrain).
