Druids and elements

I'm plannig to create a group of druids who are specialiced on using elemental magic, one element each.

Fire user is quite easy to build (Produce Flame, Heat Metal, Flame Blade, Flamestrike,...) but what spell would be appropiate for others:

Druid using Ice/Water element?
Air? (storm, wind?)
Earth?

I would like to make them all capable melee fighters if possible, but main idea should be highly visible connection to a certain element.

Well, if you were to do a wood element that would be easy...

...there is a waterball spell somewhere that works like a subdual fireball.

There is also an earth based druid prc in one of the dwarf books. Uses a lot of boiling hot magma.
 

Use the Energy Subsitution Feat for each druid and the element he wants to represent.

Other element related spell are:

Water:
- Waterball (MotW)
- Sleet Storm
- Ice Storm (or similar name?)
- Summon Nature's Ally (Water Elementals)
- Wall of Ice (available to druids?)
- Steam Cloud (MoF)
- Rusting Grasp
- Quench
- Drown (MoF?)

Air:
- Call Lightning
- Whirlwind
- Control Winds
- Storm Tower (MotW, I think)
- Control Weather
- Call Greater Lightning (MotW)
- Thunderswarm (MotW)
- Summon Nature's Ally (Air Elementals)
- Miasma (MotW)

Earth:
- Earthquake
- Transmute Rock to Mud / Mud to Rock
- Wall of Stone
- Summon Nature's Ally (Earth Elementals)
- Soften Earth and Stone
- Meld into Stone
- Cast into Stone (MoF?)
- Stony Grasp (MoF)
- Ram's Might (MoF)
- Stone Spikes

You can try swapping in some elemental spells from other spell casters (stoneskin for the earth druid's spell list would be a great boone...) -- that sort of thing.

check out the elemental domains in the cleric section for other possible suggested spells.

Also, taking existing spells and just change the visual and elemental source... that 2nd level flame sword thing (forget the name at the moment) - make it a sword of hardened ice or stone, etc.

for air you really will need to tred on the "electrity" side... basically, just imagine an angry storm god and what he/she would do to sailors at sea.. ;-)

Easy Way: Energy Substitution Feat and modifying various visual effects.

(Note: normally Energy Sub requires 8 ranks of Knowlege(Arcana). Allow it to optionally require 8 ranks of Knowlege(Nature) for Fire, Cold, Electricity and Acid only.)

Also, consider allowing spells from other sources, like Magic of Faerun (MaoF) and Masters of the Wild (MotW).

So we have:
Summer (Fire)
Winter (Cold/Water)
Spring(Air/Electricity/Plant Growth)
Autumn(Earth/Acid/Decomposition)

Summer:

Elements & Druids

You might try Monte Cook's BoEM. He has the Mark of **** and the Greater Mark of **** spells. They're pretty good. I have earth-magic sorcerer and he uses Greater Mark of Earth all the time. Also, they're a lot of really good elemental spells in Relic & Rituals I & II.

heh I had never thought of that before, a energy substituted Call Lightning would look cool as hell. Imagine great gouts of fire falling from the clouds above to incinerate your enemies.
 


I use a couple of variant flamestrike spells in my campaign for some different gods; the worhsippers of the Storm Lady Ishrak can cast Stormstrike, with electrical energy instead of fire, and the pestilential followers of the disease god can cast Kevayek's Bile, which replaces the fire damage with acid damage :)
