Druids gone bad - a couple of questions.

I want to make a druid gone very wrong, as a bad guy ~ CR 14. Someone's whose turned their back on the 'true path of nature' and fled from the company of normal druids.

There were a couple of prestige classes I've seen before and want to look at again, but can't for the life of me remember where they were.

One was called something like Defiler, Despoiler or Devastor - had undead wild shape and a strange spell list. Can't remember what the other one was called, but it had insect mastery and IIRC could shift into swarm forms. Anyone know where these are? Any others worth checking out?

The druid is going to be persued by their former druidic order. They'll obviously be druids and they might recruit several Zelekhut Inevitables. Any other apt pursuers spring to mind?

If you don't want to use the abandoned nature angle, then you could have a bad druid that's been causing plauges and wiping out whole towns to help restore the "balance" to nature. Basically he's going for genocide for anything that he feels doesn't fit neatly into natures plan as he percieves it. This includes pretty much anything other than animals, so he has his work cut out for him. He's true to the core of a druid, but to everyone else he's a monster.

Ahrimon

You might be thinking of the Blighter which was updated to 3.5e in Complete Divine. Yes, it would make a good PrC for a druid gone bad.

My take on the Bad Druid was the 'Dark Hunter' - a Druid who represents the more destructive and carnal side of nature, the devestation of the storm and the single minded avagery of the hunting wolf.
The Dark Hunter had wolf animal companions and his favourite wildshapes were as an Air Elemental 'Storm'. He lived for the hunt and was a cannibal who would happily hunt down and devour any humanoid who stumbled into his domain.

Not necessarily evil but definately not friendly and entirely doable without changing a thing...

I'd love to use the sorts of Druid that Ahrimon and Tonguez suggest... Unfortunately, that 'monster but real druid' type of philosophy got used as a in a fairly recent Shadowrun game. Terrorist group called Ecofist - looking to save the world from humans and led by a 'natural selection' favouring Shaman. Gets a little too close to both of those?

I figure a proper 'off the reservation' altogether guy is what I need.

The 'Dark Hunter' definitely sounds like fun - perhaps one of the pursuers?

Another factor is that my GM ran us through a forest full of undead insects yesterday... very fun session. It'll be new to the other group and I feel a good idea is always worth 'paying tribute' to. :)

Thanks FireLance - knew I'd seen it recently - will check that out!

Hmm- Check out the book of Vile Darkness. A couple of the PrCs in there are going to be good (Wasn't the vermin guy in there?) Also, a plague type druid could use the PrC from "Unapproachable East", can't recall the name but essentially worships Talona and spreads disease....

Another possibility is the Oozemaster from masters of the wild? Wildshapes into disgusting oozes which dissolve and absorb nature into their own abomination. He could use "summon natures enemy" spells to summon various kinds of oozes.

Just Amazoned the Book of Vile Darkness - been needing a copy of that for some time really.

I'd completely forgotten about the Oozemaster. Those guys were really cool! Reckon it would fit with having a different type of druid. And recreate that classic 50's The Blob feel :) Think I've still got MoTW somewhere... need to dig it out and have a look - does it need a 3.5 conversion or is it OK as is?

Ya, the Talontar Blightlord. It would make a perfect PrC for what you are looking for. Essentially you can create these diseased / undead plant servants that spread your malevolance all over the place...sweet.
