Druids gone bad - a couple of questions.

Blight PrC would be a good choice.

I've often thought about playing a Druid who took this path not for any concern or love of nature, but for the power it gives him. That might be a nice option.

Ghostknight/Gregor - sounds good. Unapproachable East, you say... I'll see if I can tap up my FR following player. Think he's got that. Talona is fun, for a GM. That and Umberlee (sic?). Some of my favorites.

Savage Species has a "Master of Flies" PrC which is probably where you're getting the insect-shifting druid idea from.

I'll dig that out the cupboard... Havn't looked at it in a while, but I think you might just have got it. Thanks!

Can't remember whether it was 'any good', but thought the idea looked really cool for a bad guy. Kinda Candyman-ish. Figured I'd check it out.

Now that's an interesting motivation... Seen a couple of wizards like that, but never a Druid. I'd like to see that in action from a player.

I'm rather liking a it for this bad guy. It's an easy one to fit into the campaign and sits well with their neutral evil nature. Can even build a nice hook as to how far they're willing to go - would they forsake all druidic powers and try to harness pure Law?

Bet it'd take the PCs a little while to work out what makes them tick as well. :)

what about an Awakened animal that is now ticked off at the druids.

he killed the druid who did this to him. and seeks to do the same to all druids/ two legged magic users.

maybe the angry bear was even taught by the druid before he killed the treehugger.

Motives...motives...

A druid who lost a loved one to natural disaster, who's seen war, who's seen chaos happening; she has also communed with hives of wasps, termite mounds, other hive minds, and understands the blissful unity, the ecstatic one-ness of them, and seeks to bring about peace through projecting that.

Go for the Master of Swarms prestige class. Replace Baleful Polymorph with a spell that turns the victim into a tiny vermin instead of a tiny animal. Allow the Master of Swarms to incorporate these victims into the swarm. From her perspective, the victim isn't killed, but is rather given a rare gift, the gift of unity etc.

She's a missionary, in the worst way :). Even during a fight, she'll be trying to explain to her opponents that they shouldn't be fighting, but should be looking forward to joining.

I have an idea. the Druid used a Commune with nature spell and while the spell was active there was a mass slaughter of wildlife/plantlife in the area of the spell. The druid was driven mad and lost his ballance with nature but due to the spell being active at the time this happened he retains his link with the natural world.

Outwardly he may exhibit signs like a folklorish Witch with the milk souring and plants dieing at his touch. maybe even his hair blows in the opposite direction of the wind.

The Defiler is a good class idea for him but check out the Spirit Shaman in the Complete Divine for an interesting alternative.

I found the Lord of Flies Prc in Savage Species yesterday - seems good. I'm going to tweak it a little to give this villan a wasp theme. Wasps really creep me out and I think I've got a good voice for it! Will check the one from Vile Darkness when it arrives, see if it's more fitting.

Pielorinho, Argent Silvermage. Thanks - some great ideas there! I'm going to use 'em...

A half-elven druid - Linaska - was persuaded to participate in the last large scale war against the orc tribes. Whilst communing with a forest a powerful orcish sorceror (horridly!) wilted the plant and animal life around her. She barely survived and her mind reeled into catatonic shock. She remained in this state for many hours, until a passing intelligence touched her mind... A scavenging Hellwasp swarm... The order. The clarity. :)

She started trying to save every other intelligent life form from their own chaotic ways. A missionary for order: she either introduces them to the bliss of the swarm or relieves them of their ungainly lives. She particularly enjoys processing orcs - gratitude to them for opening her eyes to the True Way.

Of course, her fellow druids don't see her quest through the same eyes. They have decided she broke her compact with nature and now she must be stopped...

Diaglo - I really like the reluctantly awakened animal... I think I have my hunter now - an awakened bear ranger with some serious unresolved issues with humans generally and druids in particular. Think he'd make an great foil, rather than a bad guy. Can see the PCs finding him interesting.
