Dungeon #104 new format

So what does everyone think of the Quick Reference Format in "The Demonskar Legacy?" It is defined on p.64.

E.g.
Light: Dim light from the ceiling (shadowy light).
Sound: none
Reaction: All of the giants will come to the sound of battle here
Auras: Strong (lights on the ceiling, sliding door, DC21, evocation)

The one thing that I would like to see on this format is that it could be put in a stat block, instead of individual lines.

I have not received issue 104 yet, but this sounds like the format first presented in the "Zenith Trajectory" in issue 102. If so, I like the quick reference format. The format does give the DM something he can just glance at to see how enemies in other areas will respond from conflict in the detailed area. Also, it really helps if the party uses detect detect magic/evil/ect in the area.

I prefer the quick reference in the presented line format over a stat block. It does not use much more space then a stat block and keeps it cleaner and easier to glance at and read.

I'd give it a big "thumbs up." It makes the session go smoother because the DM doesn't have to hunt for commonly used info.

I have not yet received my copy of #104, but it does sound like the format previously used in #102 as mentioned.

My question is, since you have the magazine, is the new format used in every adventure in the magazine or soley in the Adventure Path module?

Cheers :)

So far it's just there. It's about darn time that D&D improve for the DM's instead of just for the players.

The adventure format and the adventures themselves are very good. Too bad that there are only two adventures.

My problem with this issue is on the Polyhedron side. Aside from the Paladins of Greyhawk article, it's useless.

We have Ennies coverage from a couple months ago, RPGA coverage from months ago, and product reviews from months ago. (All of which I got "free" here.)

We have a "Rah! Rah! Go Buy some PDFs Rah!" article which makes me ask "Why is this in my Dungeon magazine?"

We have a half dozen pages wasted on some weird feat cards, showing 13 feats from the FR campaign book many, many months ago. (yes, only 13 feats on five pages!)

The only good thing here is the Paladins of Greyhawk article, but even it is of limited use to many since Greyhawk has yet to be suported with a sourcebook, despite being the Default setting. (Yes, I know longtime gamers know the references in this article, but consider what 3.0 & 3.5 gamers have seen of Greyhawk.)

With each issue, my subscription gets closer to the end. I hoped that with Eric Mona taking over, we would see a better magazine, but this issue does noithing to make me want to re-subscibe. If this issue had been just adventures from cover to cover I wouldn't think twice before signing back up, but with half of it old news, and wasted pages, I almost want half my money back.

<blahblahblah>

Again?
Are we going to have off topic Dungeon/Poly flamebait posts on every-single-thread-which-is-related-to-this-mag?

I, uhm, haven't actually looked at this adventure yet. So I'm, unfortunately, not able to contribute meaningfully to this thread, making me a big hypocrit. But anyway.
