Dungeon #111 contents

Thalmin, could you post a little more information of Lords of Oblivion? I´m dying to know how the Adventure Path continues (I´m DMing it).

We received it on Friday from at least 2 different distributors. And both Dragon and Dungeon usually arrive at the store about when the subscriptions arrive, if not a little before. Certainly not 3 weeks later!
Paizo seems to like to make it look like subscribers get theirs before the bookstores do so they put that on their webpage.

Dark Sun Monsters, part 2 -
the Belgoi (medium humanoid, {psionic})
Dune Reaper (large magical beast)
Earthdelver (small elemental {earth})
Erdlu (medium animal)
Firesnake (small elemental {fire})
Fordorran (Large magical beast {psionic})
Gaj (large aberration {psionic})
Jhakar (medium animal)
Lirr (large magical beast)
Mastyrial (large animal)
Rainrunner (small elemental {water})
Rasclinn (medium magical beast)
Razorwing (large psionic animal {psionic})
Seskarran (medium animal)
Windraptor (tiny elemental {air})
Yallix (small animal)
and the Zhackal (small magical beast {psionic})

It seems like an overwhelming majority of the monsters from both this and the preivous issue's bestiary are dumb beasts. I know last issue didn't feature any creatures with a Level Adjustment that made them playable. I don't know much about the Dark Sun setting, so is this standard?

I think the monsters are mostly ones PCs will need. For example, druids not only need a set of potential companions, but replacements for everything in the summon nature's ally lists (which they can cast spontaneously). Wizards and sorcerers need familiars.

The inevitable conclusion: Don't ditch terrestrial animals unless you're willing to create a couple dozen replacements, all of which are dumb beasts.

Absolutely correct.

Plus, many of the more intelligent creatures of Dark Sun have already appeared in the Fiend Folio, and MM2. Most intelligent creatures in Dark Sun were often the target of the Cleansing Wars, of which each of the Sorcerer Kings, in the Cleansing Wars era, were tasked with elimination of those races. Most of the Sorcerer Kings were successful. No orcs, no trolls, no ogres, no gnomes, no goblins, no pixies, no kobolds, ... all because they were targets of, and wiped out by, genocidal war of humans upon all others. Elves, giants, and dwarves were also targeted, but those conducting the Cleansing Wars turned upon each other before it was finished. Halflings were never targeted...

However, over the centuries after the Cleansing Wars, and the havoc wrecked upon the planet, "dumb beasts", vermin, and plants evolved to fill many of the niches the more predatory intelligent creatures filled previously.

I second the call. In every issue, there is a short summary of what is coming next issue.

Anyone?

Here is all I could find in regards to the next issue

Dungeon #112
30 Years in the Making

Dungeon provides the very best in official Dungeons & Dragons adventures every single month. Next issue's offering includes:
Maure Castle
By Robert J. Kuntz & Gary Gygax
Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons by delving deep into one of the classic dungeons that started it all! Pierce the Unopened Doors to discover the ruins of Maure Castle, last bastion of a twisted family of warlocks. Will you brave the caverns of the guardian demon Kerzit to ponder the pages of the Tome of the Black Heart? How will your party survive an encounter with the fiend-handed wizard El Tomorast? With a new "undiscovered" level designed by Robert J. Kuntz, this adventure updates a First Edition classic to the current D&D rules and serves as the launching point for a major dungeon delving campaign! A massive D&D adventure for 12th-level characters.

I hope I'm wrong, but I heard that there was going to be an issue with only one adventure in it...again. And after Erik Mona said that that wouldn't happen ever again too.

*edit*

[back after reading other thread] Crap.
