Dungeon #130

I gotta admit I have been sorta lazily slogging through my Dungeons for a while.

But I got this issue today, and gotta, it's a nice, exciting package. An OA adventure is cool, the Age of Worms adventure is moody and filled with thematic wickedness, and one of the articles -- sword of legend -- reall appealed to me.

I would think in a year or two, at the present rate of publication, Paizo should be in a position to put out a hardback "DungeonCraft" by Monte Cook in the size of the a normal WotC hardcover.

Something I might be persuaded to buy.

Just sayin' :uhoh:

I'm sad that the descriptions for 3 locations were left out of Palace of Plenty.

I also think they should have called it Amata Goten.

I think it might be my favorite recent Dungeon adventure inspite of the omissions.

It is not Rokugan specific (just Oriental Adventure flavored).

I started looking at other Tito Leati adventures because I like this one so much. Nice depth, interesting plot, fun for adventurers, a couple of nice challenging fights. Alternate means to overcome many of the encounters.

What is not to like?

Tito is a class act, and is currently at work on the final installment of the Age of Worms Adventure Path.

The Beasts of Aulbesmil sounds like something I could put in my non-Age of Worms adventure path.. dry silver mine? Poor Ellival Moonmeadow :p

I actually took time out of my work day, came up to the boards, and searched for the thread I knew would be here so I could comment on this issue.

Dungeon is generally very good IMO, but this issue, or what I've read so far, has been simply well beyond very good and somewhere into the legendary category.

"Within the Circle" is excellent, with good provisions for character failure (great to have in a low level adventure), a mysterious group that could get carried forward, and I love the surface adventure and the adventuring group having a different purpose than that surface adventure. I like this adventure better than any low level one I've seen in Dragon for a number of years.

"The Palace of Plenty" I would characterize as genius. Really, I know that's strong, but that is the word that leaps to mind. What an amazing adventure, and the writing is so evocative. I love that the adventure could easily be adjusted to fit anywhere by simply altering the terminology. I can only offer an awed "wow" at this one.

I haven't even gotten to "The Spire of Long Shadows", and this is still by far the best issue of Dungeon I can remember for quite a while.
