Dungeon #143: Farshore Backdrop [Map?]

Angel Tarragon

Dawn Dragon
Just out of curiousity to those that have received their copy of Dungeon #143; Did your mag come with a map includded in the bagging of Farshore. I ask because ususally the backdrops have their own separate maps, but I did not get one with this issue.

The player's map is in Dragon 351. It's got a more authentic "treasure map" look to it than the DM's map in Dungeon 143. The 4-panel map has scetches of the flora and fauna of the Isle of Dread and some notes jotted down on it in several places. It's supposed to be a map scetched by Larissa Vanderboren (mother of Vanthus and Lavinia) who was kind of a naturalist which is reflected in the style of map as well as the Ecology article that the map accompanies.

Hey, what're the religious temples that exist in Farshore? My paladin player has a subplot where he has to build a temple on Farshore, and I'd like to know ASAP what he'll be facing so I can plan.

Wik, here's an unofficial answer... unofficial, because I'm cutting and pasting from the original Farshore draft and it was edited a little in the actual magazine. No specific faiths are mentioned in the official version, which I recommend going with so you can tailor it to your own campaign needs.

Farshore Chapel
A smartly finished building of adobe stands near the center of the colony. It is a single story structure rising higher than most that is used as a place of worship. The chapel sports a small bell tower, whose cheery ring can be heard from a great distance. It is especially useful in emergencies when the large pew-lined common room doubles as a meeting place.
The primary purpose of the building is as the religious center of the settlement. The size of the colony precluded the construction of multiple temples, so it was agreed that the various faiths of the settlers would share this roof. The most popular gods venerated are Phyton, Xerbo, Phaulkon, and Pelor and arrangements are made so that each faith has ample time for its own ceremonies and rites.

Wik, because of this unique complication to your paladin's plans, you could have a lot of fun role-playing in Farshore trying to convince the colonists to allow his character to carry out his plan. You could also have some interesting religious debates, subtle acts of sabotage, and attempts at discrediting the paladin take place. This might spark a small religious war in the colony as the balance of faiths that the Chaplan has worked hard to maintain is upset by the spiritual aspirations of the paladin.

To add to +5 Keyboard's answer: In the published article, the most popular deities are Ehlonna, Pelor and Fharlanghn, though all non-evil deities from the PHB have shrines within the chapel.
