Disappointing.

Is there someone out there who likes these little Delve thingies?

I do.

Is using just delves enough to create a comprehensive campaign? No.

Would I like to run or play delve after delve? No.

Do they fill a lot of various needs, depending on how they are used? Yep!

I do actually.

I like giving my players lots of options of things to do and places to go outside of whatever bigger quests they might be on. Having little "delves" all over the place works well.

I can just kind of stick them in random places in the world, and not have to pay much attention to them unless the PCs decide to explore.

Since they're generally small, and basic, I don't have to do a lot of advanced prep.

I love these things too. Let's me drop them into my campaigns so much more easily.

Yeah, full up module style adventures are just too long for my taste. We only get maybe 2.5 hours a week of real gaming in, so a couple encounters and some RP, if that. Something like KotS would take 3 months to finish. It is just hard to keep interested in one adventure for that long. Personally I like putting together 5-8 encounter adventures with some RP, exploration, and maybe 3 to 5 fights. 3 encounter pure delves are bit flat, but they can be easily integrated, expanded, or work for side quests. I wouldn't mind longer stuff, but it really needs to break down into a few bits that each hang together on their own and have some individually different color to them so there's a sense of progress.

I am another one that like the delve format, I have a group that meet like 3 to 4 times a year and the delve format really works. It gives a nice short adventure that we can fit inbetween boardgames with little or no prep.

I am hoping to presuade then to try online with no success so far. I am hoping that the Wizards VTT with integrated support may persuade them.

I like the Delves.

I just wish they weren't tethered so tightly to the Dungeon Tiles. I grok that they kind of need to be, because they're made to be run out-of-the-box, and that's a great way to make them that way.

But man, I do dislike the Dungeon Tiles.

Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game Official Home Page - Article (The Sunken Tower of the Marsh Mystic)

Found this Heroic Tier adventure on the main page, but nearly missed it; I got used to only checking the calendar.

Gave it a quick skim. Looked okay, I suppose. I like that it had some suggestions and possibilities for further uses of the dungeon after the adventure is complete. Things like ancient sunken towers really fire my DM imagination.

Another heroic tier? Man, I keep wanting to renew but I've got more than enough heroic adventuers. Where's the epic stuff?

forget epic, how about paragon? Actually low paragon has some reasonable support, high paragon, not so much. There are a few early days adventures, but they're basically obsolete at this point.

I love the Delve format, it's exactly what I need.

I find the "plots" of most modules awful and tortured. Let me handle that. Just give me locations and encounters. My time is better spent taking them and just renaming the bad guys and giving them motivations.

Thanks for the feedback.

I guess I can be glad that these things are enjoyed by some, and are not as useless to everyone else as they seem to me. Good to know.

My gaming group consists of me, my wife and another married couple, all with kids (ages 4, 6 and 9). So these short delves that I can sprinkle roleplay into fit our timetable the best, since our sessions can barely reach four hours and happen, at best, once every 6 weeks.

So when do the kids start playing? Or even DMing?

;)
