[Dungeon] Are these issues worth picking up?

I was looking at my collection of Dungeon Magazines last night, specifically the 3.0 & 3.5 issues. I'm missing the following: 86, 87, 88, 89, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95. Are any of these issues really worth picking up? Are any of them losers I should just forget about? Which of these issues contained counters or other useful extras?

Thanks!

Dungeon has been outstanding since 3.0 came out. When considering the other issues you list, however I'd weigh it against how many adventures you're getting per page count.

Emirikol has a point - they're all good issues. If possible, track them all down. IMO the best are: (MILD SPOILERS)

  • #87
    • Raiders of Galath's Roost: A great 1st-level Forgotten Realms adventure. If you're not into the Realms it has has a diminished appeal, but can be ported over into any campaign world with a little work.
    • Glacier Season: A half dragon enlists the PCs to help seek revenge on his white dragon father.
    • The Cradle of Madness: One word: Tharizdun. Very Cthulhu-esque.
  • #92
    • The Razing of Redshore: An adventure for 20th-level PCs. Cool premise, VERY challenging.
    • Interlopers of Ruun-Khazai: Fight githyanki and githzerai on the Astral plane. Get a nifty fortress if you succeed.
  • #93
    • The Storm Lord's Keep: The first, and to date only epic-level adventure published in Dungeon.
  • #95
    • Spiral of Manzessine: A tie-in with City of the Spider Queen. The PCs are forced to detour through an illithid prison on their way to Maerimydra.

Some of the issues in the 90's contained counters. I took mine out of the mags and I don't remember which ones they came in.

Off the top of my head, I'd say Dungeon 88 is a good one. I've heard people say good things about "Thirds of Purloined Vellum" (although I haven't read it myself yet). I like the FR setting, so the approx. 30 page adventure called "The Door from Everywhere" was interesting, esp. a very dense page of information in regards to Cormyr's method of wizard and adventuring party registration (in case you want to add in a touch of bureacracy into your game ;) )

These two adventures are outstanding btw. I have used both of them (slightly modified to fit a Scarred Lands campaign) and the players had a blast. Great cinematics and plot development.

I own all of the issues you mention and really can't find fault with getting them all. Every issue has at least one good adventure in it and I think you would even get Omega World and Mecha Crusade on the Polyhedron side of the mag in that lot!

Hello,

Many of the main points I could make have already been expressed. A few other comments for you:

#86 - First Dragonlance adventure for 3E, by Tracy Hickman. It even contains time travel. I have not run it, but it reads well. The issue also contains a set of monster tokens (including Solmanic Knights and Draconians).

#87 - Tharizdun adventure as mentioned. The issue also comes with a bonus CD that includes several adventures from early issues of Dungeon.

# 88 - "The Door to Everywhere" adventure mentioned above, veyr cool in my opiniono. Monster Tokens again included.

#89 - The first Oriental flavour adventure for 3E appears in this isse. More monster tokens are also included.

#91 - Not to everyone's taste, but the "Challenge of Champions IV" adventure appears in this issue. A series of puzzles rather than fights for PCs to work through.

I am sure there is more, but much of it is covered in other posts above. I have enjoyed my issues and would recommend picking all of the ones you have listed up.

Cheers :)

[edited for spelling]
