Dungeon crafting.

I'm making a campaign for some of my friends, but I have never made a dungeon before, I've tried using the dungeon generator, but it is too random for my needs. Could someone give me ideas for what can be in the dungeon. The theme is ancient evil, like skeletons, and demons; but it is for a 6th level party.

I take my theme from the computer game Dungeon Keeper 2, which everyone should have. :)

first there is a weakness between the planes, where the Heart of Darkness forms, this is an early stage of a demon and really does not have much power, what it can do is summon creatures but this means it must grow.
It builds:
__lairs (monster dens)
__training rooms
__holding cells
__traps
__fighting pits
__torture chambers
__graves
__temples
__bars
__storage rooms
__tresure rooms
__libraries
__guard post
__more lairs
__kitchens

There are a number of books on building them.
 

Oh thats good, but I just want ideas about dungeon layers, not plot twist and other cool things like that. Thanks anyway :)
 

Mmmmm, 6th level

Level 0 - the land around - dangerous plants, assassin vines, shambling mounds. No problem but taxes resourses.

Level 1 - The guard post/gate - mostly your grunts – Bugbear, troll, ogre with Cultist (low level clerics 2nd and 3rd one or two 5th) support.

Level 2 - Lair and torture - Sleeping chambers, prison cell - some zombies, skeletons, wight, yuan-ti, chimera, ettin. Minor items like healing.

Level 3 - Trash - level for storage and to dump waste. Start seeing more traps. Kobolts, these are your trash guys and trappers, molds, fungus, undead, ghouls, gibbering mouther, grick, mimic.

Level 4 - Temple - The higher clerics, demons, hags, the big bad.
 

Thats some cool Ideas, I'll probably use all of them, being the lazy git I am.

I have though decided on the 0th level, a skeletal serpant wraped around the tower, and if you intersted this is based in the stone lands.
