Dungeon Game of Death thread volume 1

Nemesis listens to the confusion above, and when the screams are followed by the faint scent of sweet, charred, flesh... he smiles.

There may have been some elven shrieking and some human groans of pain, but no dwarves. Don't worry, though. The dwarves will be in soon enough to satisfy your musical ear.
 

TURN 2.03 CONTINUED

round 106 init 19

Caldour drops his bow and draws a rapier and short sword. He easily slays two of the zombies with a flurry of attacks. (roll 20, 18, 18, 12 result hit hit hit hit damage 3, 7, 7, 6)


Init 17

DE02 fires a magic missile at the bear and moves back. (UMD roll 26 result 5 damage to bear)

Init 16

The bear moves in and attacks Caldour! Caldour thrusts his rapier at the bear slightly wounding the animal (roll 26, damage 4) The bear tears into Caldour, scoring a single hit with its claw. (roll 13, 30, 12 result miss hit miss damage 10) The bear attempts to grapple but fails by a small margin (bear grapple check 25 v Caldour 35)

Init 15

Dabbil's followers move back, and blast the zombies yet again. (16 followers from DE09-43 attempt UMD at DC 20, 8 succeed. Damage 2 2 3 2 4 5 3 4) 2 more zombies fall to the ground, dead for the second time in less than a minute.

The master spectre floats to the south.

Praga Khan runs to the south, his face distorted with rage.

Init 12
Blinded by anger, Dabbil casts expeditious retreat on himself and chases after Castor Troy. He closes in on the scaly lieutenant, but Troy sees him and stabs him with a spear as he approaches. The spear hits with surprising force and draws blood from the iron skin of the polymorphed hag (roll 35 result hit damage 17 minus 10 from stoneskin total 7)

Jorachim's warriors advance down the great hall.

Init 9
Mialee moves away from the entrance of the dungeon, on the orders of her master.

Init 8
DE04 uses a scroll of cure light wounds on DE16 and moves back (UMD roll 25 result +6 hit points)

ROUND 106 IS OVER

ROUND 107

Soveliss rolls 11 initiative.

Horacio steamrolls into the dungeon, chanting the traditional war chants of the barbarian tribes! He pushes past several of jorachim's warriors, only to be clawed at by a zombie! (roll 4 result miss)
 

ROUND 107 CONTINUED

The zombies roll a 7 initaitive

DE10, DE17, DE21, DE24, DE25, DE27, each lose 1 hit point from
shock and trauma. DE28 stabilizes.

The two followers slain in the last round get back up and attack!
One attacks Horacio and the other claws at DE21 (roll 4, 14, result miss hit damage 2)

Init 24

DE03 moves back and watches over DE39's corpse.

Init 19

Caldour savagely attacks the bear and drops the mystically summoned beast. it transforms back into a ball of fuzz the instant Caldour's last rapier strike hits it. (roll 19 20 19 26 total damage 28)

Dabbil and Castor Troy size each other up for a moment. Finally, Troy smirks toothily at the polymorphed hero, revealing a mouth full of real and false fangs. The false fangs are heavily decorated with mystic runes promising fiery death.

Dabbil is enraged at the sight of this repentant fool daring to smirk at him during a life or death battle. He hisses at Troy "I'll make you pay for your arrogance in attacking us alone! You'll not escape me!"

Troy counters rather calmly even sedately. "Did you know that many reptilian species change color depending on how warm they are? When cold, the reptile's scales are darker than usual, even appearing to be black...but warmed, they shift to their normal, vibrant tones."

Troy's scales start shifting colors, changing from black to bright red in less than a second. Dabbil looks at Troy's mouth and sees a distant flame at the back of his throat. Dabbil also sees the false fangs cracking under the intense heat of the flames. Troy begins to laugh, a hideous deep throated laugh worthy of the son of a dragon.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!

The explosion rocks the entire southern side of the first level. Praga feels a wave of heat pass through him, and feels sick to his stomach.

(Fangs(necklace) of fireballs exposed to magical heat, causing all of them to detonate. Dabbil's reflex saves: 12 for breath, fireballs 11, 21, 27, 26, 29, 14, 29, 18 damage 23 + 21 + 4 + 8 + 5 + 2 + 4 + 6 + 1 total 74 damage result death)

Dabbil's charred corpse falls to the ground. Castor confidently trots to the level 2 entrance.

(note: I will keep the icons of slain players on the map to show where their corpses lay. I do not roll for item damage when a player's gear is exposed to an area effect damage spell, therefore Dabbil's gear remains.)

Init 17
DE02 patiently waits for something while looking at Butch's corpse.

Init 15
DE09-43 wait to blast Butch the instant he rises from the corpse.

Init 14
DE05 waits nervously, fearing the corpse will turn into a spectre and attack him.

The Spectre flies to the south, heading to the level 2 entrance.

Init 13
Praga Khan moves towards Dabbil's corpse.
 

Init 11
Jorachim's warriors move forward and attack the zombies. Two of the warriors hack the undead creatures with polearms killing 1 zombie (roll 23, 17 total damage 17)

Soveliss flees away from the entrance.

Init 9
Mialee ponders her thrice damned condition.

Init 8
DE04 waits for Butch the Spectre to rise.

Init 7
The zombies ineffectually claw at the heroic adventurers and company (roll 20, 16, 6, miss miss miss)

ROUND 108

Butch's corpse twitches and his spirit leaves the body! All of Dabbil's followers blast the wretched thing, unraveling its very existence! (18 followers try UMD at DC 20, 10 succeed, DE02, DE04, DE05 succeed damage 39 result death)

DE10, DE17, DE21, DE24, DE25, DE27 lose 1 hit point from their wounds.

DE01 enters the dungeon and runs to his master's corpse.

DE06, DE07, and DE08 run into the hall, hoping to help their wounded comrades.

Mr. Boots, a dire tiger pads into the dungeon. It sniffs the air for EVIL TO BITE.

Caldour wades into two zombies, tearing them apart! (roll 24, 19, 20, 16 damage 17 and 15 respectively result death for both)


Init 17
DE02 reads a scroll of cure light wounds on a fellow follower, DE31 (UMD roll 24 result +5 hit points)

Init 15
DE09-43 hold their wands ready to attack anything more threatening than a zombie.

Init 14
The Spectre descends to the lower level. He will not be shown on the map, and anything that happens there will only be known to the evil team!

DE05 uses a scroll of cure light wounds to help DE25 (UMD roll 23 result +5 hit points to DE25)

Init 13
Praga Khan moves to Dabbil's corpse. He stops hiding to loot the corpse. The instant he stops moving stealthily, a figure materializes out of nowhere and attacks! Praga is impaled by a longspear (roll 24 damage 14) Praga staggers back, as another attacker appears, this one even more monstrous than Castor. The monster launches a fleshy appendage at the scout and hits, coating the wound in a clear sticky substance. The monster's appendage is also slightly singed from Praga's protective magic but is able to overpwer sufficently to make contact. (roll 17 result hit damage 12 Fort save vs poison 22: saved SR roll 21, unable to defeat SR)

Init 11
Soveliss decides that undeath is a gift and should be shared and so launches into Dabbil's followers! 17 followers from DE09-43 respond by blasting the undead thing with magic missiles (17 rolls of UMD at DC 20, 9 succeed, damage 38) Soveliss first focuses on DE43 merely touching him and thus damning the poor bastard to eternal agony and misery (Roll 21 result hit and death from energy drain)

Init 9
Mialee followers her fellow spectre and attacks DE23, killing him with a touch and a whisper. (roll 23 result death due to energy drain)

Init 8
DE04 blasts Soveliss for 5 points of damage with his wand! (UMD roll 28)

Init 7
The last zombie kills DE21 (roll 14 damage 5 result death)
