Dungeon Ideas - Hit a Brick Wall

Yeah worshipers. I was thinking that this dragon would be alone on the island, as he is wanted and trying to find solitude. But when you take an uber powerful dragon and put him on an island of ignorant natives, it is more than likely that somebody will call him a god, or at least deep him worthy of worship.

I see it as, the dragon is not actively caring about those that woship him, but he'll take their appeasements nonetheless.

Exactly!

He gets food (captives and hunted game), gems (his willing and eager slaves mine for him), privacy (they also guard against intruders) and (when he craves it) a little "action" from his servants. All of that for nothing... other than refraining from killing his worshipers outright! ;)

His occasional liaisons while polymorphed into a human or lizardman form (hey, it's been 500 years... we all get urges) has led to the creation of yuan-ti and nagas on his island. I'd go with an ancient black or green dragon (just to mix things up) and make his cavern waste deep in water... with a slippery, mossy floor to really make combat a mess. His island of coins, gems and bones rises out of this... giving him a great vantage point over surrounding lake. The high ceilings allow him (and the PCs) to fly in combat and resourceful parties should be able to find secret entrances to his cavern (underground rivers that lead to his cavern would come in handy).

Man thanks for the feedback everybody, appreciate it!
Ain't ENWorld cool?

Ya know I think I remember something like that from a seminar at GenCon I took a while back. Refresh my memory, it sounds pretty cool.
Sure thing...
1. Entry/Guardian
2. Puzzle/RP Challenge
3. Trick/Setback/Complication
4. CLimax/Conflict/Battle
5. Revelation/Reward/Twist

The different angle I have happening with this dungeon is that they are going to be fighting the Dragon FIRST, and then if they attempt to hunt down his massive hoard, there will be this huge dungeon waiting for them.
You know, that reminds of creeping coins from the old Wizardy CRPG... like a kind of treasure mimic. Could be nasty surprise, trap, or even a hazard.
