Make Dungeon Dungeon

Now while the current issue of Dungeon is fine, it is big to celebrate 100 issues. If we go back to 98 & 99, we find 2 of the worst issues in the history of the magazine. There is simply a shortage of adventures because of all that space being devoted to Polyhedron.
Quite simply Polyhedron is crowding out what we buy Dungeon for. It should have remained a seperate magazine and should be removed now.

By the way, Dungeon should not contain, feats, spells, etc either, except where such is central to the adventure. Such are the job of Dragon. Dungeon is for adventures.

I very much like Dungeon #100. This also marks the first issue where I enjoyed the Polyhedron side. The reason being is that it supports the material in Dungeon.

I buy Dungeon magazine (and Dragon magazine for that matter) for one purpose and one purpose only... DUNGEONS & DRAGONS material for my game. Fiction, jokes, funny song lyrics, Scooby Doo mini-games, non-D&D related comic strips, etc all detract from the "focus" of the magazines. (IMO).

I do not enjoy Polyhedron (with the exception of the latest issue). If it could supplement material that could be used in a standard D&D 3e game, then I would be a little happier. If it is not D&D related, why is it in my D&D magazine?

That said, I'm a subscriber, and have been for a long time. (Both Dungeon and Dragon). If the only way to keep Dungeon in existance is to attach the Polyhedron stuff, then by all means keep it. I would prefer a 70% / 30% Dungeon to Polyhedron ratio in EVERY issue, with the more Dungeon the better. If the price went up a little bit, I wouldnt mind. If the magazine got a little bit smaller, I wouldnt mind. If it was mostly (or all) black and white, that would be ok too (hopefully it wont come to that).

Whatever it takes to keep Dungeon around, I'm all for.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person who dislikes (or at least doesn't prefer) the slick glossy color print paper. I could write in the old magazines without having to copy it first, and it didn't leave icky smudges on my hands.

I'm not thrilled with the "extra" stuff - I don't need MORE feats and spells and races and classes and weapons and magic and stuff......

I just want good basic adventures in a plain format, easy to use and cheap. If I'm the odd one out, though, I'm not surprised.

None of the current options appeal to me. I'm interested in hearing what other ideas Paizo is thinking about. I love both magazines but I think that they're not a good fit together. If it's the only way to keep them both viable, I guess I can live with that but it's certainly not my preference.

Also, regarding what several other posters have said about the slicked up look, I'd be interested to hear how much that costs. While it's nice to have a good looking magazine, I could easily live with the old b&w format if it will help the magazine remain profitable. The question is, how much does the slick look help sales? If it really makes a difference, then going back to b&w drive down sales which of course would hurt not help.

None of the above.

I'd spin off Polyhedron to a seperate magazine. In addition to the mini-games I'd have articles that support other d20 games the way Dragon does for D&D.

Dungeon could then wither on the vine.

I LIKE IT THE WAY IT IS.

For now, it is feasible for Paizo to publish it in this format.

To be honest, I'm surprised that the magazine is still in business. I would have shut it down in order to STAY IN BUSINESS, had I been the head of Wizards management or running Paizo.

If you prefer that Dungeon die because of the change into Dungeon/Polyhedron, then vote with your wallet. Don't just say because talk is talk ... just do.

As for me, I will continue to enjoy the new format, especially the new Poly.

i like dungeon better than poly, but i like both and i'm happy to see both.

i'd like support for minigames, and support for other games such as CoCd20... and i'd liekt hem to actually keep putting LGJ in there... if they're going to take it out of dragon, to go into poly, then it had better actually BE in poly.

I wouldn't buy poly on its own, but i would buy dungeon on it's own. i'd buy poly on it's own if it had good CoC stuff int here regulalry, and cool greyhawk support. The bright desert article was great... and I'd love more fiend-sage stuff.

I quite like the presence of Dungeon and Polyhedron together.

It's the Living Greyhawk stuff in Dragon that always irritated me.

I've already said I'm unhappy with the way things are going with Dungeon/Poly and intend to let my subscription lapse if things don't improve.

Here are some ideas for making it suit my tastes (since we're all chiming in).

I'd be ok with going back to black and white (especially for the maps) since it was easier on my eyes. The glossy look is nice in a lot of ways, but isn't necessary and switching back to black and white non-glossy might help Paizo save some cost.

I dislike having Poly in Dungeon, but if it has to stay to keep Dungeon alive then reduce it to no more than 30% (and do less if possible), and also stop doing it as a flip book. I buy Dungeon for Dungeon, not for the Poly content.

Isn't Paizo going to be producing a third gaming magazine soon? One about games other than D&D? If so, why not slip Poly over into that one?

The price is understandable since publishing a magazine isn't a cheap excersize, therefore currently it isn't a big concern of mine as long as the magazine changes for the better.

Paizo was good about replying to some of the concerns already expressed, but it didn't appear that they did any polling which might help them learn more about their target audience. Please do so in as much detail as possible because I'm certain you'll be able to distill things down better once you see the wide variety of thoughts from the readers.
