Dungeon of Dread Starter - No roleplay stats

I took the plunge while out and about today and bought the starter and one booster for MSRP (ugh :p) at a bookstore. I love the starter. The minis are well-painted and the sculpts are pretty good. I, for one, like the look of the new green and thought that, for a non random large mini, it exceeded my expectations. The other 4 are nice as well. The three heroes will make good PC minis for a lot of groups, I'm sure. As an aside I love the packaging as it shows off the 5 included minis nicely.

On the flipside, the solitary booster I purchased had slightly sub-part paint jobs, in my opinion. Note that I try to keep my expectations rather realistic considering the mass-produced nature of these plastic minis, but I felt some of the paint jobs were just a bit sloppy. I probably will buy some more boosters, and form a fuller judgement. I did like the rare I got (the aspect minotaur) and the hooked horror looks pretty menacing.

I just wish I had more money to spend on minis :)

Still anyone intersted I suggest looking into amazon.com where you can get the new starter, as well as boosters, for a little over $10 usd each!!!

Call in the Quality Inspectors. It sounds like you have a bad batch of minis, Voss; more Quality Control!

Really? Based on the packs (just a few) I've picked up over the years, its about what I expected. I was hoping the quality had gotten a bit better, but wasn't terribly shocked when they weren't that good.

The new boosters are a bit better (I picked up two), but they're still quite sloppy.

The minis in this set do not have RPG stats because the set was done long before the Monster Manual was finished. Future sets will have them again.

The boosters are meant to rip apart when you open them. Before they could be re-sealed and stores were getting them returned full of commons or worse. One store (a Walden Books) took back a booster of rocks.

Forgive my ignorance, but since they have already put up the rpg cards here http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mi/20080410a
why didnt they just add the 6 for the starter?

The starter was already in production before the rules for RPG where finalized.

Yeah, I get that, but when they posted the rpg cards for the set on the website, why didnt they just include them? I may not be getting something. But since they posted the rpg cards it seems it was finalized by that point. Maybe im missing something. (Wouldnt be the first time)
