Dungeon Siege (Microsoft Games): Ever played?

Fun game. Looking forward to DS II. Multy player online only did a couple of times but was a blast. The game playign for you element realy helped in this regard. I could and literaly did go to the store during a season with my friends to by a pack of cigs or something and I was witht he party and still alive while they played.

I have to go with the "Dungeon Siege has no plot and is a waste of time," crowd:

I got the Legends of Arana expansion (comes with the original, and is only $20, so it's a good deal).

The game is so linear that it brings new meaning to the word. The plot is so thin that, as described earlier, it can be summed up as, "Those bastards killed my Cow.....and now they're going to pay." The amount of time spent slaying (not playing, just slaying) between plot advancements is so long that, if you aren't at it constantly (say, playing for a couple hours once per week vs. playing round the clock with 5 minute bathroom breaks), you will eventually forget why you started killing the baddies in the first place.

After about 15 hours and no discernable change in play or focus, I realized I could have read three awesome fantasy novels in that time and sold my copy on Ebay for the same price I bought it. Like breaking off from a bad date, I felt instant relief.

Right, no plot, linear, limited strategy, the cool items were always way too expensive when you found them in shops, and worthless by the time you could afford them. Combat strategy was limited, and even though any character could progress in any area, to be effective you actually had to specialize, so that was kinda moot (especially for the magic). That being said, it was a fun mindless waste of time. There are a lot of games that are much better, but I would play maybe if I got it for free, or REALLY cheap (say, $5 or so). Otherwise, save your money.

I got bored of it in the swamp levels. Extremely repetitive, and no plot to speak of (they keep hinting that there's a plot, but there's really nothing there). Nice graphics, cool idea with the mule, that's about it, really.
