Here's a question for the FAQ: why, if I don't absolutely need the revised rulebooks, do I feel magically compelled to buy them anyway?

Because Wizards of the Coast have mad bonuses to their spell DCs, silly. You have no hope of making a DC 40 Will save versus thier charm person out of their wallet spell. :)

Bring on those books!

I just hope they include some of the 'best of' stuff from the splatbooks. I have no desire to pick up "Sword & Fist" after all the bad reviews, but some of the feats/weapons sound neat.

Ignore the grousers. The bad reviews are much ado about very little.

I have to secdon Psion here. Sword and fist had Errata posted on the Web site; after the errata, it is a darned fine product, in my opinion. I know of very little in that book I COULDN'T use in my campaigns.

To be fair, most of the grousing and the negative reviews were inspired by the *deeply* flawed pre-errata version.

I third that; post-errata S&F is quite useful.

Of course, Masters of the Wild has more useful feats for high-level fighters, but still...

I have a gripe: I bought all three books when they were released two years ago, and now I have (well, I don't have to, but bare with me) to buy them again. Just for the extra stuff. That means if I want clarified rules and more rules, I have to shell out an extra $150 Australian. Doesn't seem right.

What would be nice is if WotC offered a free download (or heck, even a low-priced one) with all the extra stuff and clarifications in it for those of us who have the books already.

I don't think they "owe" us any of the extras -- the new prestige classes, for instance. But I think they do owe the early adopters and the loyal early customers the basic changes. And I bet, through the SRD, they'll provide those.
