I voted 4e, simply because I've found to move/flow the quickest during combat (not that combat's take less time, but rather we get through more rounds faster). Also, for my group it has a good fit as they like the more tactical style of fighting it offers. I mean RP'ing is the same regardless of edition, hell you don't even need to use any rule books for that portion.

I find the results very interesting. Here it appears that 4e is more popular. When I was manning the Dragon Roots Magazine booth I got a lot of feed back from people telling me that they either were stuck in AD&D or wanted more 3.5 content. Very few actually said they made the move to 4e.

So, IMO, it either means that this poll is not all that accurate because the people not playing 4e are ignoring this thread or that the ENWorld is more in tune with 4e.

That said, we offer both editions in our magazine so I don't care one way or another, I was just making an observation.

45% 4e (at the moment) seems v. similar to the results edena got in the last poll which was ~1000 votes - the only difference seems to be the non-4e is spread over more categories in this one

I think a ballpark figure of 50% 4e is not too far off the mark, & certainly seems to reflect the post composition i've been reading, which means both 'sides' are going to have to get used to living together for the foreseeable future - or end up playing both games and make polls like this obsolete!

So, no fights to the death, no "Last Edition Standing"? :( ;)
And I was so excited!

It's also quite possible that people that stop to talk at a booth for a third party magazine are more likely to be those interested in previous versions of D&D. I bet you'd have had a very different result if you were asking people that came up to talk at the WotC booth.

I can see that too. My point is that polls really don't gauge anything. If you ask a room full of democrate what they think of the republican party, you are going to get different results than if you asked a room full of republicans how they felt about their own party.

I find the polls on ENWorld entertaining, but I don't ever think they are the be all end all of what people really think.

I'm not saying I like one more than the other, well, I will say now because we are talking about it that I like 3.5 better but like a lot of features of 4 and that I play and DM both, so fit that in your poll.

I think, more so now than before when 4e was first announced, the two edition factions are getting along just fine. I don't see people with the edition hate that I did a year ago, so that is cool.

For the record, I avoided this thread when I first saw the title. I only jumped in because another poster in another thread linked to it and I wanted to see what he was talking about. So, no matter how I might have voted in the poll, I wouldn't have normally done so and my original point was that, people who liked older editions, such as myself, would IMO avoid this thread so as to be polite to others, like I did at first.

Im into 3.5.
Ive looked into 4e. I bought the Gift set cause Im a collector, I bought the new FRCG. None of which Im impressed with. Ive downloaded the free Pathfinder Beta, not really impressed either. Waiting till ext year.
