Duskblade and going straight into bladesinger....

Question

First Post
Normally you would need to multi-class fighter with wizard, then go into bladesinger. With duskblade it appears you can go in without any multi-classing at all.

What do you think?(Including, what do you think of the class).

Bards a lot weaker with worse class abilities(not suited to fighter/wiz style IMHO), and hexblade, im not too sure of, but dont they have worse spells at least?

I'm not familiar with the new class.

But forcing a multiclassing option is not a requisite for prestige classes (it just seems that way at times).

Can the character qualify earlier than 4th level? (And that is based on DMG II not DMG rules which are 5th level).

If so it is broken, if not then it isn't.

The Hexblade has lots of self-buff spells, quite a few enemy-debuffs, and a couple of utility spells. A Hexblade/Bladesinger would be best served by sticking with self-buffing, then taking Arcane Strike to turn their spells into offensive power.

Interesting sidenote: Bladesinger is available for goblinoids in Eberron! Woot!

Why?!?

Duskblade is already Bladesinger taken to a 20 level class, you're much better off just satying Dkb

I dont understand the comment about DMGII?

Duskblade isnt bladesinger class. Its close, but not it. Most importantly you get a hefty dodge bonus equal to int mod.

If you're referring to, then it's a guideline, not a rule. Eberron has at least one prestige class that can be taken at 4th level (the Master Inquisitive).

You only get that dodge bonus if you wield a longsword or Rapier and only if you wear light armor. Given the race and feat requirements the earliest a Duskblade will be able to enter the Bladesinger class is 7th level, (around the time a multiclass fighter/wizard will be entering).

At this point a Duskblade can already wear Medium armor w/o ASP.

Going with Bladesinger a dusk blade will miss out on:

5 spell casting levels

Increased power of Arcane Channeling

Increased power of Spell Power

Will lose one use of the quick cast power, assuming an equal balance level between a Duskblade's Quick cast power and a BladeSingers' song of celerity. Frankly I think the Quick cast power of a Duskblades is better than the Song of Celerity.

a Skill list that does not really jive between class and PRC.

The only benifit I see is that a Duskblade/Bladesinger combo would have a much better reflex save then a Duskblade by itself, and the Song of Fury power which is easily duplicated by the spell Haste.

As an aside why is Haste not on a Duskblade's spell list. If anything strikes me as the ultimate buff spell for a gish type character, being able to cast Haste is it.
