Dwarf with 145 lb. pack--absurd??

If you think dwarves are bad, check out the halfling. The tallest and heaviest male halfling (from the random tables in the PHB, pg.93) stands 3 ft 4 in tall & weighs 38 lbs. But with the max Str possible at 1st lvl (16), a light load for him is 57 lbs, the heavy load is 171 lbs and he can lift 342 lbs off the ground!

Reminds me of the great picture in the back of the old fiend folio with the fighter packing what looked like one of everything.

I don't see anything wrong with packing all of that, now fighting with all that crap on your back might be different, and don't forget you are going to want to pack all that wonderful treasure back out too. Many times are characters had to dump most of their gear just so they could carry treasure out, I mean who needs that cast iron skillet when you got a bag of coins in front of you.
