One strong possibility is 169, with Dragon's Bestiary: Demihuman Pets.

Along wth the yyllethyn (elven horse), crayghe (elven hawk), byut (fey deer), pennig (halfling pony), twill (pocket rat), and stoght (forest gnome fisher), it features the brak twan (dwarven tunnel hound) and the guttar (dwarf ox).

It's #269, not #169.

I would expect the iconic dwarf dog breed to be the badger hound -- or dachshund.

Yeah, and it's the dwarves who named them sausage dogs actually. (Because, according to dwarves, they're good eating - almost as good as rats, plus you don't need any ketchup for a dackel)

It is a great irony, then, that in Finnish, the word for dachshund, "mäyräkoira", also means a twelve-pack of beer.

Dog is great for stamina, so I can see why dwarves would like it. :)

Dwarves haven't domesticated dogs, in fact they don't really like them very much. Now badgers and bears on the other hand.

Let various breeds of badgers take the place of cats. Yep I can just see the Tiny domesticated house badgers they keep where humans or elves would keep cats.

Then there are the bears, selectively bred and domesticated bears. It'll make your players double-take when they see a bunch of dwarven children playing in the street with a labrador sized hearth bear.
