This build uses the core books, Frostburn, and Races of Stone
Ftr 1/Wiz 4/Runesmith 1/Eldritch Knight 1. It uses the alternate rule in RoS that you may substitute any single exotic shield for tower shield proficiency. This build uses the extreme shield.
Ftr 1: Dwarven Armor Proficiency, Combat Casting (no prereqs).
Wiz 1/Ftr 1: Scribe Scroll.
Wiz 2/Ftr 1: Primitive Caster (Frostburn).
Wiz 4/Ftr 1: 8 ranks in Craft and 5 in Concentration; qualifies for Runesmith.
Wiz 4/Ftr 1/Runesmith 1: Shielded Casting (RoS). Qualifies for EK
Wiz 4/Ftr 1/Runesmith 1/EK 1: Some fighter feat. Probably WF (waraxe)
So, this build qualifies for EK as fast as a Ftr/Wiz, can cast spells in all armor, does not provoke AoOs for casting in melee through the Shielded Casting feat, and with Primitive Caster, adds a vocal component to all spells for +1 caster level; Runesmith replaces all components with a single material component. The Practiced Spellcaster feat will likely figure prominantly in the characters future, leading to a character that casts spells 2 levels lower than a straight Wiz, but has a CL 1 higher. Lookin' good, eh?
