Dwarven Forge Products

Dwarven Forge stuff is awesome, but you will pay dearly for that awesomeness. It's worth it! Just make sure you don't use it every time, or every dungeon will seem the same...

That would apply for whatever option you choose, even your holographic projector...

Is it interchangeable?

Hey Gang,

I've got a decent amount of the Dwarven Forge stuff myself, perhaps 4 or 5 boxes. It seems like I'm always just short of the stuff that I need though. It's also a pain to set up & take down, but gorgeous once it's up & ready.

I'm intrigued w/ the Hirst Arts approach & frankly I'm wondering if anyone's had a go at using both? I don't use the bow tie connectors w/ the DF stuff anyways. Just curious if anyone uses both of these.

By the way that's an awesome website for anyone who's interested in such projects. It's really got me thinking (a dangerous past time I know).

I have some DF stuff, but have yet to use it. Just moved and looking for gamers. I have one game i drive awhile to, don't want to lug all this stuff to my game and force DM to use it. I like the idea of a program to use setups, ect. Yes it is expensive, but worth it, IMO. I picked up the new trap set, you can play some mind games with the players with it.

I have two Dwarven Forge sets - Room & Passage andCaverns. I love 'em and so do my players. I generally find that with those two pieces I have enought to set up the immediate battlefield without any problems (sometimes leaving blank spaces of open floor in really large rooms).

If you can spare the initial investment, I recommend it. Although Ken has a good point - it's sort of pain to transport - though my group always meets at my house so I haven't had any problems.

it started so inccently, I picked up the small tresure, and dungeon accessary sets, then the room set. Then I saw what a visual impact this can make to the game. I picked up more, wicked addtions 1, 2. the deluxe room set, ogres den, straght passage set, trap set, and some more painted figs put out by them, I do at least recomend the figs, fully painted, great quaility. They do sell most of the stuff indivually as well, but that is more expensive. Anyone have any thoughts on the cave set? thinking about picking it up, but i know that is the most expensive one they have. I really hope they come up with a computer program where you can enter in the sets you have, and it comes up with a floor plan.

I love the cavern set. Visually, it's one of the most impressive. The little pools, movable rocks and stalagmites are great. Of course, with the irregular cave walls, it's not quite as versatile as some of the other set.

Wow. I've seen Hirst Arts mentioned several times, but this is the first time I actually checked out their site. Very nice - I like the Dwarven Forge stuff that my group uses, but we are occasionally stymied by not having enough pieces. I think I'm going to order the basic floor tiles and wall set - if they're as useful as I think they'll be, I suspect that my group may be investing a bit of our treasury into some of the other molds as well.

I'll chime in here before Horacio does... :D if you are interested in making your own stuff (unlimited molding and customization potential), I urge you to check out www.hirstarts.com A number of us on the boards have the molds.... and they really rock!

Damnit I was gonna say that! I got two molds on the way for my dungeons. :) I can't wait, plus they are cheaper in the long run compared to the DF stuff. I only advise this route if you like making your own models and such. Be careful though, its a bit addictive once you start :)
