Dying Earth RPG

It is a great game!

I've run a couple of games and we really liked it! I've read several Vance novels, but my players hadn't read any (at the time).

It was easy to learn (rules-wise) and the Tag Line rules kept us laughing throughout the game.

I even wrote my first Story Hour about the first game I ran!

I really can't reccomend this game highly enough.

And they grasped the Vancian feel easily?

It was easy to learn (rules-wise) and the Tag Line rules kept us laughing throughout the game.

Tell me more about Tag Lines.

I even wrote my first Story Hour about the first game I ran!

Gospog's Dying Earth Story Hour

Wow! I have to agree with drnuncheon's comment, "it's OK if you want to play with Jack Vance, just remember to put him back when you're done having him write your story hour." Well done!

I really can't reccomend this game highly enough.

High praise, Gospog!

I haven't read it yet. How is it dated?

Radiocarbon methods, I think.

A great task which has been handed down to latter-day generations of gamers is to determine accurately the chronological sequence of events which have led to the industry we know and love today. One of the key methods of doing so is by means of testing the relative proportions of various isotopes in ancient materials. By this may they be categorised into the main stages of the evolution of the gaming industry:

1) Pre-Cambrian, aka "proto-gaming" -- TFT, Chainmail (the original), Avalon Hill, Judges Guild
2) Golden Era -- the Red Book, OD&D, 1E AD&D, GURPS, Traveller
3) Age of Nihilism -- Cyberpunk, Call of Cthulhu, Vampire and the rise of White Wolf, 2E AD&D
4) Post-Magic:TG -- 3E AD&D/d20, Blue Planet, BESM, Exalted

Radiocarbon dating methods have contributed much, and will contribute more, to the historiological effort worldwide. Truly this is one of the great achievements of the 20th century. Thank you.
