E-Mail Time Capsule!

Forbes has an interesting article about email time capsules.

I find this interesting, a great way to keep a diary/journal of events in your life and be able to reflect upon them at some point in the future.

That's very neat. I fired one off to myself in 10 years because I'm far too impatient to wait 20. I went with my gmail account as I can imagine Google still being around in some form 10 years from now, although people probably said the same thing about Webvan and Flooz.com.

My concern is: will there even still be email in 2015 or 2025, in the form we now recognize? After all, I didn't have email at all in 1995.

We'll see. I'll meet you all here in the year 2025 to see how we did. That is, if EN World's still alive ... if Morrus can survive.

I'll be 50 if I survive the next 20 years. I don't know if I would want an email from myself today. Things aren't that great.

Then it'll give you an opportunity to see how far you've come in the time between. I mean, heaven help all of us if we're worse off 10 or 20 years from now then we are today.

If I am then I was right the best days are already behind me and I should have offed myself already.

No problem. I thought people might take an interest to it, therefore I posted it. I know that there are plenty of people that can't live without the internet, I'm one of 'em. Seriously. :D

Totally understand, I can not live without it either. I sent several emails to myself at a gmail account which i figure will be around for awhile. One email for each of the time periods allowed. I'm interested in seeing whether the software that is to be used to send the emails works (as intended) as well as seeing if email is still a thing of the "present" in the coming years or a thing of the "past." I personally have doubts about email being widely used 20 years down the line, but I guess I shall see.
