[E.N.Pub] 4CTF Modern & Revised coming soon!

HellHound

ENnies winner and NOT Scrappy Doo
The Natural 20 Press classic, Four-Color to Fantasy, has been revised and upgraded by Ryan "RangerWickett" Nock and is just finishing up in layout and should be appearing soon at RPGnow.

This E.N.Publishing release takes the material from FCTF and updates it to the Modern d20 System and classes, as well as doubling up on interior art and adding new, never-before-seen material.

Weighing in at over 140 pages, FCTF Revised will be one of E.N.Publishing's largest PDF releases to date.

Reduced price, yes.

As the material presented is a serious set of changes from the original material and is deisgned for an alternate system, E.N.Publishing will not be sending out free copies to all owners of FCTF, but will instead be sending out a coupon code to those owners allowing them to purchase a copy of FCTF-Modern at a hefty discount.

HOWEVER -

In order to receive this discount coupon, it is the owner's responsability to make sure they have their accounts at RPGnow with an up to date email address and set to "Allow vendors you have ordered from to mail you?". If this option has been deselected, then the promotional coupon mailing will NOT arrive in the recipient's email.

Have it set up already.

This book is be designed with the D&D rules in mind, but will be revised when D20 Modern comes out. Those who have the original will be able to upgrade their copy for free.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but this is a quote from the 4CTF's product page here at EnWorld (emphasis mine).

I bought the first run of the product with this in mind, and was promised by rangerwickett himself that it was in fact true.

To find out that it has changed from "free" to "discounted" is extremely disappointing.

I probably won't be buying it.

I would have to say that this will most likely be a different product - d20 Modern is not the same as standard d20, so I can see why this would not be considered an "upgrade" of the original FCTF. It's not really a matter of fixing errata or updating to 3.5 rules. The discount is a very generous and much appreciated offer when viewed in this light.

For a similar situation, see the Book of Distinctions and Drawbacks and the Book of Distinctions and Drawbacks Modern from Cryptosnark Games (two excellent PDF products, BTW).

Granted - but the difference being that the original, in this case, was advertised with the statement that it would be updated to D20 modern as soon as it came out, and that the conversion would be free.

Knowing, as I did when I purchased it, that D20 Modern was just around the corner, and that FCTF wasn't compatible with it yet, I probably would not have bought it except for the promise that the conversion would be both shortly forthcoming and free.

Both of those things, it turns out, are not true.

Well if that's true then, I'd have to agree with you. Do you have a link to that quote's source?

Hellhound and EN Publishing are very reputable, talented and respectable folks - I'm sure they'll work something out.
