Maybe I'm missing something, but how do I create a wand? there is no entry for wands in the "type" pull down menu. I suppose I could put them under wondrous items, but then you'd have to hunt for it for days.

Wands are based on Spells.
So to purchase a wand for your character hit the new button.
Select wand, then select the spell, the caster level, number of uses, etc and it will add it to the wand list for you to purchase.
This is also how you purchase scrolls, potions, enchanted weapons and armor, etc.

And if you want to create a wand that's not in the core rules, you do that by creating a custom spell. That new spell, then, will be available to be made into a wand if lv 4 or lower, into a potion if level 3 or lower, and in to a scroll regardless of level, out in the treasure generator or the character editor.

Thanks! I was trying to buy it from the magic items screen instead of the spells screen.

No no no. You *do* buy it from the "Purchase" screen.
There's a button on the "Purchase" screen labeled "New." It's on the middle right-hand side of the screen. You click on that and a new window pops up which allows you to "create" the wand you want to "buy."
Then you go back to the purchase screen, select Magic, select Wands, and there's the wand you just made.
It's true that you do have to create a custom spell before you can create a wand that uses that spell, but wands can be made in E-tools from any of the PhB spells.

My mistake was looking under the "magic" heading. There is an entry for stsves, potions, wondrous, etc, but no wands. After following the excellent instructions above, I was able to "create" a wand. IMO, the core wands should have been pre-implemented, though.
