"World of Whitethorn 1B: The Village of Oester" from Open World Press / Mystic Eye Games gets the approval of advance reviewers:

"****1/2.... 'The Village of Oester' is an impressive addition to D&D. Not only does the adventure setting offer a great quest, but there are numerous excursions and opportunities to keep a campaign going for quite some time."

"The level of detail is impressive. Your players might talk about encounters from this adventure for months. 'The Village of Oester' shines with successes and avoids all the common pit traps for pre-written adventures. If you’re looking for a quality adventure then 'The Village of Oester' and the 'World of Whitethorn' series should be first on your list."

"The adventure is well written, and things are made easy for the GM. It captures the best aspects of the old time modules, but doesn't have their weaknesses."

I seriously can't wait for this bad boy! Between this series, Goodman Games Dungeon Crawl Classics, and Kenzer's Kalamar modules, I'm all set for D&D adventures! (And as long as Mystic Eye keeps putting out Dragonstar ones, and I HOPE Goodman puts out Morningstar adventures)

I'm a 28 year old married man with a full time job and a DM. I NEED this kind of stuff!

Thanks, and keep up the great work!

Excellent, Ed, I look forward to reading this one! :D

I could not agree more with these reviewers. Ed has done an outstanding job. Oester is fantastic and has a great dark feel to it.

I had lost heart in 3.5 adventures a while ago but Ed and his work has turned that around for me. I look forward to more from Ed and Open World Press.

Thanks for all the kind words of support! It's always nice to be appreciated for your work. Sometimes it is very tough writing and publishing, especially for "adventures" since they seem to be out of favor right now. I keep telling people, especially retailers, that this is not just an adventure, but much more.

The World of Whitethorn series are, as some of you know, what I like to call "adventure settings". These offer not only an adventure, but also a setting such as a village or town (in this case, both), supplementary rules, GM Tips, and more. I hope that readers enjoy them and they can be high-quality, high-value books that can be re-used over and over again.

Anyhow, please support adventures or adventure settings or whatever you want to call them. I'm beginning to feel like they are a dying art form which makes me very sad since they are my favorite type of products.

Thanks again. :)

So... I assume we'll see a third in the series? :D

One of the reviewers predicted that there might be a "Town of.... " next. Good guess :), but there is actually a town already included in "World of Whitethorn 1B: The Village of Oester".

So the follow-up in the series will be "World of Whitethorn 1C: The City of Calas". It is a fully-detailed city with over a hundred shops and places of interest described. Several short adventures and encounters outside of the city are also detailed, especially in the forests. This should be a big book.

I'll have more information in the next couple of months.

Thanks for your interest!
