Eberron Campaign Inspiration Thread

Henry

Autoexreginated
I wanted to see if there was interest in starting an Eberron Campaign inspiration thread? This is to be a thread containing topics both online and offline that a gamer might use as inspiration for new Eberron Characters, NPC's, adventures, etc.

I'll start it off with two offerings:

www.blackmask.com - site offering pulp fiction works that have passed into the public domain due to expired copyrights.

http://www.geocities.com/jjnevins/pulpsintro.html - A GIGANTIC list of Pulp Heroes from 1902 to 1939, with 1-line to 1-paragraph descriptions of each protagonist.

The blackmask site in particular is invaluable for setting the proper "mood" of an Eberron Pulpish game.

any others?

Anyone else

What I wanna know, Henry, is if you're going to run an Eberron game at the next NC Game Day (September 25 in case you didn't know). Your AU game certainly helped inspire me to want to play that system.

Not exactly a resource, but something I'm planning to do for my Eberron campaign. Instead of allowing the players to create any characters that strike their fancy, I'm planning to borrow a concept from the movies and have a casting call. Bascially, I set out various character archetypes, and the players decide amongst themselves what they want to play, and then create characters to meet those archetypes.

For my group of five players, I'm planning a casting call to to play the following five archetypes:

1. The Action Hero
Suggested classes: Barbarian, Fighter, Monk
Suggested feats: Action Boost, Heroic Spirit, Raging Luck
Organizational links: Agent of a royal family, city/town guard
Suggested PrCs: Extreme Explorer, Heir of Siberys

2. The Influential Hero
Suggested classes: Bard, Rogue
Suggested races: Dragonmarked races
Suggested feats: Least Dragonmark, Favored in House
Organizational links: Dragonmarked house
Suggested PrC: Dragonmark Heir

3. The Exalted Hero
Suggested classes: Cleric, Paladin
Suggested feats: Silver Smite, Divine and Exalted feats
Organizational links: Church of the Silver Flame (or Kalok Shash), Church of the Sovereign Host
Suggested PrCs: Exorcist of the Silver Flame, Fist of Raziel [Kalok Shash], Radiant Servant of Pelor [Dol Arrah], Shining Blade of Heironeous [Dol Dorn]

4. The Arcane Hero
Suggested classes: Artificer, Sorcerer, Wizard
Suggested feats: Education, Research, Spell Focus, Spell Penetration, Metamagic feats
Organizational links: Library of Korranberg, Morgrave University, The Twelve
Suggested PrCs: Archmage, Loremaster

5. The Hero of Nature
Suggested classes: Druid, Ranger
Suggested feats: Beast Totem, Gatekeeper Initiate, Warden Initiate, Shifter feats
Organizational links: Gatekeepers, Wardens of the Wood
Suggested PrCs: Eldeen Ranger, Weretouched Master

You've read my mind, Rel(insingersonlyer). I've been thinking about that, and am leaning towards it. More info when we start the NC Gameday thread/announcement thingie.

The Artificer, and The Twelve fit better with Influential Heros rather then Arcane.
Especially since that The Twelve is ran by the Dragonmarked houses. Though The Twleve can fit under both.
Just my IMO. :-D

Kinda pertinent,(I hope) but the Savage Worlds website http://www.peginc.com has some free adventures for download and the forums there often are buzzing with pulpish ideas.

Savage Worlds if youre wondering is a rules lite "generic" system that is geared toward 30's esque-pulpy and swashbuckling genres (doesnt do fantasy that well IMHO.)

But its a nice place to get ideas...

Good point, thanks! I had almost forgotten about Savage Worlds free adventures - pretty much ALL of them in the series would be good inspiration, no matter the setting.
