Just sit there with that laptop actually on top of your lap for a couple of hours, and then attempt to father a child

LOL! That's just too funny!!

Seriously though, I don't think there is a wrong or a right choice as long as the customer is happy. For me personally, a PDF that is the same price as a hardback doesn't make sense, therefore I would never layout the cash. If it was $20.00 USD, then I would definately consider it, but not at $39.95 USD, no way, no how.

Not even speaking of the problem of preservation of information in electronic format, which is a real problem. 50 to 100 year-old lifespan for a CD compared to... ohh... millennia for paper? I'd choose the paper any day.

Wait. I just spoke about it!

While media does degrade, data, properly cared for, does not.

If you just buy the thing and then stick it on a CD and leave it there for a decade... Chances are you're not going to miss it too terribly. My PDFs, especially my most used ones, are constantly moving. Aside from the obvious of transferring them to new computers, I also transfer them back and forth between my laptop and I use a flash drive to do it... There's 3 different copies of my data without even making an effort to back up stuff, just in the course of using it normally. Then of course there's the times I've emailed myself (through gmail) a PDF so that I could look at it at work/school. There's a 4th, off-site backup.
