But what the hell is that lying across the b/w drawing?
Wet mermaid hair?

It would fit with the strange shell-like thing-a-ma-jig in the lower left corner...

It looks like they wanted to showcase somesort of prehistoric dig site.

What's that they're using for binding there? Elbow macaroni at the top, and seashells at the bottom? :)

I do like the way the D&D logo is shunted to the side, and the book's actual title is given real emphasis.

As a graphic designer, I understand what the artist is trying to do. They're wanting to show the deep history of the setting, the whole archeological feel to it, walking in the ruins of antiquities, rich with stories and history... but there are much better ways of doing that. I'd gladly offer my services free of charge to do a cover for them... cause although the cover is competent, it's definately uninspired.

I love pretty much everything I know about the Eberron setting, but I don't like the cover.

Would color be too much to ask?

Not a big deal, of course, but it's not too late to make some tweaks...

It's probably an early copy. I wouldn't think they'd stick b&w art on the actual cover.

Ah, but they would indeed. It's part of that whole "pulp noir" thing they've been pushing about the setting. Gag.
