Eberron players- what to possibly do?

In two weeks we begin a new campaign. Creation Schema is over.... for now.

Tentatively the next campaign is called-

"I went to Hell and all I got was This Damned Shirt" or "To Hell and back"

The group will be Wayfinders that explore various ruins and are paid by certain folks to retrieve what ever item they seek.

The first adventure they are after a well hidden Tome. Anything they find is theirs EXCEPT for the Tome.

The second adventure will involve dungeon delving for something unrelated to the first adventure.

The third adventure sends them into the Mournlands for a gem. Unknown to them, the Tome and Gem are required to free certain demon lords. Their patron is in fact a Rakasha looking to free Orcus.

There will be others involved also. They want the tome and gem to free THEIR Demon lord... Grazzt and Demogorgon.

As always.... I will involve other factions. I can't run a simple game otherwise.

So- who or what else should be involved? Thrane, Dark Lanterns, the Orcs? and how.

and yes- I am keeping in mind that a Garg sized Orcus is due in March.

I would say don't put too many groups into the mix. Have one or two "big bads" for the overall plot, with a handful of recurring benefactors who actually send them out for stuff.

One should be the gnomes of Zilargo. Play up their innocent, knowledge-seeking exterior at first, then lay hints about their manipulation of other groups as the PCs bring things back. Things they can use against their enemies...

A gnoll who wants you to retrieve a "family heirloom" from ?. Maybe it really is, or maybe it's an artifact your big bad wants. Or, maybe he just wants to embarrass his former clanmates. Or all of the above.

An elf who wants an tablet he has researched and believes to be in a specific temple in Xen'drik. Unfortunately, he gets the translation in his research slightly wrong. It's a 15 meter tall obelisk.

A mage in Sharn who wants a rare material component... from a lagoon or reef on Xen'drik.

A priest who wants to retrieve the body of "a fallen hero" from the frozen northern wastes.

The natural enemies of rakshasa and demon lords, the Church of the Silver Flame. Except you don't portray them as good guys. Have them extreme in their methods, utterly without restraint in pursuing what they see as the servants of darkness. Perhaps they spy on the PCs, attack or capture and interrogate them.

Eventually the more sympathetic members may forge an uneasy alliance with the party. Or perhaps the party sides with the Lords of Dust against the church, willingly freeing Orcus.

The Chamber is an easy one, as is the Gatekeepers. A good way for them to figure out that they are on the wrong side is when a group of druids and rangers are fighting to stop them. Have the rakshasa tell them that they are Ashbound but they are actually Gatekeepers.

Any run into the Mournlands will also often involve Cannith and/or the Lord of Blades...it never hurts to put them in there.
