ECL of a Shadow

Let's say you were a Shadowdancer with Leadership and you wanted to 'beef up' one of your companions with some levels to make it a cohort. What ECL would it be?

someone may want to look it up, but IIRC, Savage Species had it at 5

Actually the Level Adjustment is +7, and with the shadow's 3 HD, that gives it an ECL of 10. So a normal shadow would count as a 10th lvl character for cohort purposes. Obviously adding class levels or having extra HD (from being the companion of a higher lvl shadowdancer) would raise the ECL accordingly.
