ECL Question

Fiery James

First Post
Here's a question that's come up while we were designing our latest release... (I know it should probably be in the d20 rules forum, but I'm lazy and can't promote my stuff as well from there...)

Now that d20 CoC is out, does anyone know the ECL for playing Cthulhu?

I'm working on an adventure that's similar to what I did with The Giant's Skull, except it'll feature Cthulhu instead of ogres.

In the first half, players take on the role of investigators retrieving the Necronomicon from a bizarre cult.

In the second half, they can play Great Old Ones and their minions attempting to retrieve the ancient tome.

However, I want to keep it all balanced, so I need to know Cthulhu's ECL...

Any help?

Well, obviously it can't be very high. One harm spell followed by a hack with an axe and he's dead, just like all the rest. Similarly, one Power Critical with a vorpal sickle and he's dead, just like all the rest. I would peg him at ECL +1, tops. Even that may be a bit harsh, but I'm assuming you have intelligent and tactically-aware players.
