First Post
I am looking for input on opening a new games store in Edmonton... I would like to have any suggestions of what would make it somewhere you all would like to go... Input is welcome from all but specifically from edmontonians would be great..

Good hours, do not charge over list.

I have nowhere to pop into when I drive up to visit the parents (I won't step foot into warp 1.. bastards).

Just to let you know, Ground Zero (just west of the U of A campus) folded, which surprises me since students are commonly gamers. They had exhibition games and games in store (I played in some 7th sea stuff), so they were obviously trying to provide other services than just books.

Warp I seems to be suffering from the "browse & buy online" syndrome- they found their books were well-handled, but sales were down. Thus the plastic wrapping of everything. I don't know how well that's going to work, as irritating your customers generally doesn't cause business to pick up.

Anyway, consider your business model carefully.

i think as long as you keep your prices in line with the recomended cover price you will probably be fine. if an independent store way up here can charge me less then listed price i see little reason a store in edmonton should have to mark up as long as it's in a moderate rental price area, not a mall or something.
