So last night in our session we encountered a couple vampires. They were tough, but we got lucky and one took 2 disintegrates in a round. It failed the first save and was brought to <10 hp. The next one hit it, got through SR and the displacement, and would have brought it to below 0 regardless of save. This resulted in a couple questions.
The first question is: will a disintegrate destroy a vampire or will it become gaseous? We had a little arguement about thisand the DM eentually ruled that it wuld go gaseous, but suggested I post here for calrification just in case. We ended for the night right after that encounter, so the distinction wasn't crucial at that point.
The second question has to do with it's items if it does go gaseous: when a vampire goes gaseous, so do its items, but when hit with the disintegrate it would turn to dust without the items. Does this happen before it getas the chance to go gaseous?
