Egyptian RPG?

Playing Age of Mythology (Great game, get it, play it!), and reading Lackey's book "Joust" have recently instilled in me a desire to run or play an Egyptian themed RPG... But other than some stuff in 2E DnD for running arabian themed stuff, ala Al'Quadim, there is a noteable lack of stuff about that general area of the world... An Al'Quadim isn't what I want, obviously.

Does anyone know if there have been any books on this subject? They need not be D20... I'm flexible, can use whatever system they are or adapt, doesn't matter.

Note, they need not (And indeed I would prefer if they weren't) *actually* Egypt: The RPG... No more than Rokugan is Japan: The RPG.

I have been reading up on the Pharonic setting in Deities and Demigods, and it's a good start, at least I think. Not too much there, but you can add what you want, such as the timeline you are developing for, how the cities are organized, and build some adventures from there pretty easily. It may be a bit more work, but the SRD could be adapted rather readily.

It looks like great minds think alike Agback. :)

Indeed. But it always worries me that fools never differ.

As a commemoration I will throw in a recommendation for the novel Sinhue the Egyptian.

You could also try the books by Wilbur Smith. Set in ancient Egypt, main character is a priest/scholar IIRC. Not a fantasy setting, more of suspense/mystery style.

Note the various settings done by WotC/TSR that are egypt like:

e.g.
Empire of Nithia, set in the Mystara/Hollow World

Necropolis by Necromancer Games is an adventure with the bare bones for an Egypt setting.
